Cousin Greg is one of the most fascinating characters on HBO series Succession. While every other member of the Roy family is outwardly clever, cunning, manipulative, and selfish, Greg seems to be the opposite.

Quiet, shy, and seemingly cowardly, Greg did not grow up wealthy. His grandfather is Logan Roy's brother, who is staunchly against the family media conglomerate Waystar Royco and everything it stands for. Desperate for money after losing his job, Greg travels to New York in hopes that his great uncle will hire him.

But as the show goes on, we see that Greg might be more clever that he's given credit for. That said, the Roy family has still done some pretty terrible things to him.

Made Him Shred Incriminating Documents

When Tom discovered that the department he was about to take over was mired with controversy and had covered up terrible acts — from sexual assault to even death — he forced Greg to go to the office in the middle of the night to shred incriminating documents.

This way, if things ever came to a head and the details were made public, Tom could always use Greg as his fall guy. It was a terrible thing to demand of someone, not to mention illegal and unethical.

Soured Things With His Grandfather

Logan and Greg talk about his inheritance in Succession.

When Greg asked Logan for a job, Logan used the opportunity to fuel a grudge he has with Ewan, his brother and Greg's grandfather.

Later on, Ewan threatened to cut Greg off from his $250 million inheritance and give the entire sum to Greenpeace if Greg did not quit working for Waystar Royco, putting the young man in an impossible position. Greg approached Logan about this in the bathroom and instead of promising to protect him, Logan simply told Greg that he needed to do what he felt was right.

Boar on the Floor

Who can forget the terribly humiliating game Logan Roy made the staff play during a company hunting retreat? His rationale was to suss out who had betrayed him by talking to a reporter.

Greg was a suspect, along with Tom and Karl. All three men were forced to crawl around on the floor, oinking like pigs and fighting over a sausage. It was a shaming exercise meant to bring them all down, and overall a terrible thing to do.

Made Him Their Gofer

The Roys essentially made Greg their gofer, sending him out to do things when they needed something or, most of the time, when they just wanted to get rid of him. In one of the worst instances, Roman sends Greg back to Logan's house to grab some envelopes.

But then Shiv stops Greg before he leaves and asks him to pretend he can't find them, urging him that she has more power and he should listen to her instead. They put Greg in the middle, making him feel awkward and forcing him to choose sides.

Cruel To Him

This one is mainly on Tom, but he made a point to be cruel to Greg any chance he got. And as Greg began to work more closely with him, Tom continued to do it more and more often. Greg took it all without batting an eye, but it clearly got to him.

Tom would continue to use Greg as someone to confide in, rag on, or even hang out with when he was lonely. He never really treated Greg like a human being but more as a personal servant to do his bidding and to constantly make fun of. Tom used Greg as a means to boost his own self-esteem.

Made Him Kendall's Babysitter

When Greg asked Logan to help him get a position in a less hostile environment, referring to having to work with Tom, Logan said he'd "look into it" but only if Greg did something for him: look after Kendall during Tom's bachelor party.

Kendall is a drug addict, and Logan was worried his son might go off the rails. Not only does this mean Greg couldn't really go and enjoy the party, but it also meant now he had to play babysitter and take on the huge responsibility of someone's health and well-being.

Forced Him To Do Cocaine

While watching over Kendall at the bachelor party, which took place at an underground party by a train track where "anything goes," Greg found his cousin about to snort cocaine. In a desperate attempt to make sure that Kendall couldn't overdose, Greg was forced to snort the cocaine himself — not exactly the smartest idea.

Rather than feel bad for him, everyone, including Tom, made fun of Greg for this. Greg naturally got high from the drug and couldn't really do much to fulfill his obligation of protecting Kendall.

Called Him Greg the Egg

Greg met Logan's second wife, Caroline Collingwood, at Shiv and Tom's wedding. Rather than have a pleasant and light conversation with him, Caroline went on to remind him of some nasty things.

She informed Greg that his nickname as a child was "Greg the Egg" because his head was misshapen like an egg. She then alluded to his father being gay. It seems like everyone enjoys making fun of poor Greg.

Offered Him An Apartment

At first what seems like a kind gesture turns to be the exact opposite. Kendall offers Greg a gorgeous and spacious apartment to live in for free since he knows he's looking for better accommodations. Greg is taken aback and excited. Kendall tells him the only condition is that he wants to be able to party there.

Instead of using the home in which he resides, Kendall then proceeds to hold parties at all hours of the day in what is supposed to be Greg's apartment. Greg can never get any peace and quiet or even sleep comfortably in his own bed without being interrupted.

Threatened With Violence

Once again, Tom is evil to Greg. When he discovers that Greg kept a few incriminating papers about the cruise line before shredding the documents, he threatens him with physical violence if he doesn't get rid of them.

Tom then stays at Greg's home overnight to ensure he can't leak the documents or hand them over to someone. They burn them together on the balcony — though Greg still managed to stuff a few into his coat when Tom wasn't looking.
