Rocksteady Studios showed off a poster for their series. Still, a lot of details are scarce right now and many questions remain. At first glance, the poster appears to show Superman with the Suicide Squad logo stamped over the back of his head like cross-hairs. To anyone who takes a closer look, there’s evidence suggesting this isn’t Superman at all. But is it actually supervillain Bizarro?
Debuting over sixty years ago in the comics, Bizarro has been a thorn in Superman’s side for a long time. Since his debut, he’s made appearances in all sorts of Superman media, including several TV shows like Smallville and Supergirl. He’s also appeared as a Injustice 2 and Lego DC Super-Villains. So it wouldn’t be completely out of the realm of possibility to have Bizarro make an appearance in the Suicide Squad video game.
There’s also evidence to suggest the poster features Bizarro instead of Superman. The easiest of these to spot is the coloring of the skin. Bizarro is known for having a Frankenstein-like hue that gives his skin a pale, recently-deceased look. The man on poster clearly has an unhealthy glow. While this may simply be because of photo editing and tonal changes, there’s still other aspects that point to the true identity of the man on the poster.
More Bizarro Evidence on the Suicide Squad Poster
Upon looking at the eyes, it’s easy to see they’re glowing red. Superman’s eyes glow a similar color when he’s about to use his heat vision. Bizarro, however, doesn’t have this ability. Bizarro's powers are often the opposite of Superman’s, which means Bizarro has freeze vision and his eyes glow blue. However, there are definitely wisps of smoke or steam coming off the man’s eyes on the poster, which could still give merit to the Bizarro rumors since people could argue its like steam coming off ice.
The suit itself is another point of debate. It doesn’t exactly have the red-and-blue hue fans associate with Superman, so could it be Bizarro’s off-color suit? Like the skin, the color of the suit could be completely due to the image lighting and tone.
For now, all fans can do is speculate. Thankfully, they won’t have to wait too long for more information. According to the same tweet that showed off the Suicide Squad poster, Rocksteady Studios will share more information at DC FanDome on August 22nd.
