Eagle-eyed comic book fans are noticing some neat Easter Eggs in the uniforms of the cast of Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League trailer featuring Deadshot, Harley Quinn, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang as they are tasked with eliminating the Justice League after the heroes are mind-controlled into serving the invading Brainiac.
Today’s Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League trailer begins the same way most stories involving the titular Task Force X do, with Amanda Waller recruiting a small team of supervillains to stop a threat the heroes of the tone for Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League quite effectively, and some fans have already noticed a few clever comic book references right off the bat.
In the wake of the new trailer, The game's distinct take on Harley Quinn doesn’t seem to be wearing a number at all, but this is in itself a reference to how she wasn’t originally created in the comics. Instead, she famously made her first appearance in the classic Batman: The Animated Series before being brought into the main DC universe proper in October 1999’s Batman: Harley Quinn #1.
Even in the days leading up to Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League’s showing at today’s DC Fandome livestream event, Rocksteady has been slowly unveiling small tidbits about their latest comic-based superhero adventure - which is set in the same universe as the developer’s critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham series. Earlier this week, fans got to see the first in-game screenshot for Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, and Rocksteady recently posted a number that players could dial to hear an angry message from Waller after she grows tired of Harley Quinn’s constant prank calls.
Rocksteady has included plenty of Easter Eggs for longtime DC Comics fans in its Batman: Arkham games, and this looks like it will continue in Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League thanks to the clever uniform numbers worn by Task Force X in the game’s opening. Eagle-eyed players will no doubt spot more fun references when Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League launches sometime in 2022.
