At the moment, not a whole lot is known about Rocksteady's involve the Jusitce League in some capacity. Further information about the game and its contents has been promised to arrive at DC's FanDome event, which will take place on August 22. Until that time, the gaming community is free to speculate about what plot lines, locations and, of course, characters, will be included in the final product.

The last of these three topics alone is capable of generating endless discussion, and that's because the Suicide Squad is comprised of a wealth of unique characters with interesting abilities. From Deadshot's sharpshooting skills to Killer Croc's animalistic strength, Rocksteady has had a wealth of gameplay mechanics at their disposal. And that's assuming their Suicide Squad will even remotely resemble the one seen in David Ayer's 2016 film, which is but one of many iterations of this unusual team.

Since Suicide Squad has been led up to be a stark departure from the exploring DC villains and anti-heroes that play rather differently from their previous mainstays like Batman, Robin, and Catwoman. Of course, characters such as Rick Flag and Harley Quinn could still provide an opportunity for close-quarter combat gameplay that focuses heavily on martial arts, but they are likely to be complimented by other, more unique types of fighters.

Rocksteady's Suicide Squad Has LOTS of Choices For Playable Characters

New Suicide Squad Comic Team

One of those types of playable characters in Suicide Squad could be snipers, or characters which rely less on strength and more on gadgets. These include familiar faces such as the aforementioned Deadshot as well as Captain Boomerang, but also lesser known figures like Speedy, a hero trained in bow and arrow, and Punch, a supervillain who can walk on air using a special type of shoes. These figures are virtually useless in hand to hand combat, but can provide crucial assistance from afar. Though less versatile than, say, Batman and Robin, they also force the player to work around weaknesses and optimize advantages.

Another type of character that promises engaging gameplay mechanics in Rocksteady's Suicide Squad are the brawlers, which resemble the fearsome Titans that players had to face in the Batman: Arkham games, and include Killer Croc and Blockbuster. Like the snipers, they come with their own pre-set strengths and weaknesses that gamers would have to work around. On the one hand, they are much more powerful than the Caped Crusader and his relatives, and can easily take on large amounts of foes. On the other, they are not as agile and therefore less effective in a face-off against individuals.

Naturally, not every character in the DC Comics mythos fits these neat little categories. In fact, there are quite a few whose powers are so unique they enter a league of their own. Although their abilities will be harder to realize in-game, Rocksteady may well benefit from their inclusion as they make for the most original gameplay styles. Take, for instance, Nightshade, a villain that teleports and manipulates her opponent's shadows, or Chronos, who has the ability to time travel. Rocksteady could pick Multiplex and Parasite, who can duplicate themselves and temporarily absorb the energy of others, respectively. Whoever ends up being playable in Rocksteady's Suicide Squad game, the company probably had a hard time whittling down the choices.
