Though Mike and Harvey's interactions and journey as friends were fascinating, they also caused the series to neglect other characters, making their overall arcs feel rushed in certain places. As a result, some of the arcs of the original show were not as intriguing to audiences, as characters like Jessica and Donna were given little time to grow and become as complex as the main duo.

Having four leads allows the spinoff to avoid this, as the show will be able to divide its focus more evenly among its ensemble. Each episode will need to showcase all of these characters in some capacity, with audiences getting new insights into their arcs every time. The characters can then be given more time to grow organically, adding more nuance to each one and their dynamics with the others earlier. This would allow Suits: LA to stand out more as its story unfolds, letting all of its characters breathe and grow together over stemming from one source.
