The next theories about potential Smash Bros. Ultimate characters have been present long before the game ever released, and excitement hasn't slowed down post-launch either. The game has continued to release new fighters, stages, and modes since releasing in 2018, and we know that four more characters are set to the fray before February 2020.

Persona 5's Joker was the latest newcomer added to Smash Ultimate, but the character's reveal set the tone for what should be expected from the Fighters . Shocking additions that Smash aficionados thought to be impossible seems to be the theme, and the latest rumor indicates that another seemingly impossible fighter will be ing Nintendo's fight title. It should go without saying that a potential spoiler lies ahead.

A tease from shinobi602 on ResetEra indicates that none other than Banjo from the Microsoft-owned Banjo-Kazooie franchise is ing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's roster through DLC. As shinobi602 teased, "Been a while since we saw Banjo in anything. Hope we’re in for a smashing good time." It's lacking any sort of subtlety, but it's the leaker's track record that makes this remark stand out.

Banjo-Kazooie

This may seem like a bit of a stretch, but shinobi602 is responsible for reporting a number of things within the industry before anyone else. He leaked The Last of Us 2), and even teased the reveal of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in the March 2018 Direct via Twitter.

It's important to note a healthy dose of skepticism should be taken with this report since Nintendo has yet to officially announced the next fighter for Smash Bros. Ultimate. Still, a crossover with a Microsoft character isn't that farfetched when considering the company's current plans for the future of Xbox. Namely, its Cuphead to the Nintendo Switch.

More projects are said to be following suit, but Banjo appearing in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate would be a long-awaited homecoming for the bear and bird who were originally owned by Nintendo. Only time will tell if this rumor bears fruit, but maybe E3 2019 will provide the limelight that Banjo-Kazooie so rightfully deserves to be in.
