A new theory centered around Google search algorithms and ads may have lead fans to the final characters featured in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's able Fighters . ittedly, rumors and speculation are an anchoring point for the entire Smash Bros. community, which makes yet another theory based around such an activity seem like par for the course.
Despite this, it's fun to throw names into a metaphorical hat and discover new reasons to become excited by potential characters making their way into Super Smash Bros. to an already packed fray. The interactive spectacle has evolved into a who's who of gaming mascots, and the Persona 5's Joker as a playable character, a new theory dubbed 'Google Theory' may provide a greater insight on the Smash DLC front.
The hypothesis in question was first presented by a YouTuber known as PapaGenos. In his video explaining the theory, it's explained that a number of fans began testing Google's search algorithm to see if any combination of characters or franchises triggered an ad for the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters to appear. The logic behind this is that keywords would have been entered ahead of any announcements by Nintendo in order to promote characters included in the DLC. After ample testing, only five names caused the ment to pop up.
Setting aside the already released Joker, fans got the following four characters to summon the Fighters ad: Banjo from Banjo-Kazooie, Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden, Doom Slayer from debunked Smash Ultimate leak that made the rounds earlier this year. If true, this means that fans can expect one of the most truly bizarre mixes of gaming characters ever composed in a season for any title.
Smash fans would be smart to take this theory with a heavy dose of skepticism. These characters only bring up the Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC ment on the European version of Google. Furthermore, this could be the result of any number of different factors with Google's algorithm, none of which lead to any of the above-mentioned characters being added to Nintendo's fight title. Add in that Dragon Quest's Erdrick is still heavily believed to be coming to Smash Ultimate through DLC, and it's clear that there are still some uncertainties afoot with this report.
For now, though, it serves as a fun development as fans await an official fighter reveal from Nintendo. It's believed that Super Smash Bros. aficionados won't be waiting much longer for an update either, as Nintendo's E3 2019 presentation kicks off on June 11th at 9 am P.T. and should have some news on this front.
