The 2022 Super Bowl LVI's movie and TV trailers were certainly no exception, with plenty of reveals for shows and movies. With a massive global audience tuning in to watch the big game, it's become the best time for studios and brands to their latest products, services, or projects. Slots to air a commercial or trailer during the Super Bowl are the most expensive on television, as they're guaranteed to reach such a large audience of consumers.

As a result, the trailers aired during the Super Bowl are often for the most hotly anticipated movies and TV shows, and 2022 was no exception. With Marvel Studios, DC Comics, Amazon, and Netflix all airing trailers for their respective projects during Super Bowl LVI, there were a number of big reveals that have already proved exciting to fans. The Doctor Strange 2 Super Bowl trailer in particular was packed with reveals about Sam Raimi's MCU film, but all of Super Bowl LVI's hotly anticipated trailers proved incredibly exciting.

Other than The Flash. There were also teasers for Netflix's The Adam Project and Jordan Peele's Nope, and the first look at Amazon's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. With so many new trailers for a variety of shows and movies, there was a lot of information to unpack. Here are the biggest reveals from Super Bowl LVI.

Oscar Isaac In Action As Moon Knight

Oscar Isaac in Moon Knight

The Super Bowl trailer for Moon Knight affords fans a better look at the sort of action the Disney+ series will have to offer. While the earliest glimpses of Moon Knight indicated a much darker and psychological-horror-driven tone, the Super Bowl trailer gives fans a look at the titular hero in action. Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight can be seen swooping down onto a group of enemies Batman-style, as well as leaping between rooftops.

There's also a better indication of what to expect from Moon Knight's story, as Steven Grant is featured interacting with Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke). Harrow can also briefly be seen using his powers and tells Grant, "there's chaos in you - embrace it". While more specific details of Moon Knight and Ethan Hawke's villain, Arthur Harrow are being kept under wraps, the latest teaser offers an intriguing peek at what the show will have to offer.

First Look At Jordan Peele's Nope

Another exciting reveal from the Super Bowl LVI trailers was the first look at Jordan Peele's Nope. Details about the Get Out writer-director's third film have been thin on the ground since it was announced, and other than the film's cast and a few bits of cryptic information, Nope was something of an enigma until the trailer dropped before the big game. The trailer reveals a threat from the sky descending upon a horse ranch outside Los Angeles.

Between Nope's intriguing trailer and outstanding cast—including Daniel Kaluuya, Steven Yeun, Donna Mills, Barbie Ferreira and Keke Palmer—the reveal is interesting enough. But, when it's considered alongside Peele's two previous directorial efforts, Get Out and Us, both of which received widespread acclaim, Nope seems even more exciting. There's already speculation about the possibility of a shared universe between NopeGet Out, and Us, but regardless of the possibility, Nope is an exciting prospect for horror fans.

Sonic The Hedgehog 2: Sonic Vs. Knuckles

Sonic and Knuckles battling in Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Super Bowl LVI also had a trailer spot that focused on the clash between Sonic and Knuckles in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. While Knuckles was featured in previous trailers for Sonic the Hedgehog 2, he was only glimpsed and heard briefly. The Super Bowl trailer's focus is on Knuckles' role as the film's secondary antagonist, as it's revealed that he's working for Jim Carrey's Dr. Robotnik.

Much like Sonic the Hedgehog 2's other trailers, this one shows the iconic character in a number of exotic locales, including on a snowy mountain range and a tropical island. The key difference for this trailer is that he's shown to be at odds with the Idris Elba-voiced Knuckles in all of those locations, seemingly confirming that Knuckles' role in the sequel will be larger than previous trailers indicated. Not only does the Super Bowl trailer add more context to previous trailers, but it also gives fans a better look at Idris Elba's Knuckles.

The Rock's Black Adam Could Team Up With The JSA

Dwayne The Rock Johnson as Black Adam in Black Adam.

In a short sizzle reel of teasers for DC's films, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson can finally be clearly seen suited up as Black Adam. This is exciting enough, but the teaser also reveals a few key elements of Johnson's DCEU debut that are equally enticing. One of these is an exchange between The Rock's Black Adam and Pierce Brosnan's Doctor Fate which sees the latter appealing to the former to "come with us". Combined with the teaser's "The World Needs Heroes" title, this potentially sets up a JSA team-up or even a place in the Justice League for Black Adam. Despite the character being a supervillain, it's looking possible that the DCEU will cast him in a more heroic light, possibly even making Black Adam an anti-hero story.

First Look At Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power

Lord of the Rings Galadriel Horseback Battle Rings of Power

One of the biggest reveals from any of the Super Bowl trailers was Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power's first teaser trailer, which offered a better picture of what Amazon's Lord of the Rings prequel series will look like. Much of the teaser is lacking in context, but there are clear indications of what to expect from the show, as well as a better look at 's characters. Perhaps the most interesting reveal is that of Morfydd Clark's Galadriel, who looks to be very different from Cate Blanchett's version of the character.

In the teaser, Galadriel can be seen climbing mountains and leading cavalry into battle, which is certainly in keeping with her new armor-clad look for Rings of Power. From the trailer, it seems as though Galadriel may be a more hands-on character in Middle Earth's story than many believed. In addition, Sauron appeared to be notably absent from the trailer, hinting that Rings of Power still has a handful of surprises in store.

Doctor Strange 2 Will Return To Familiar Locations

Kamar Taj Falls Doctor Strange

The latest trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness also aired during the Super Bowl, and it offered a handful of major reveals about the future of the MCU. As well as taking Doctor Strange into a nightmare dimension, a number of locations can be seen in the Doctor Strange 2 trailer, some of which are decidedly familiar. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will see Strange team up with Wanda Maximoff, and it seems the pair will both be revisiting familiar territory.

One scene from the trailer briefly depicts a battle taking place in Kamar-Taj, with explosions rocking the temple-like home of the MCU's sorcerers. Another shows Wanda facing off against what appears to be one of her own variants in Westview, despite the town having been destroyed in WandaVision. Exactly how and why these locations factor into the plans of Doctor Strange 2's villain remain to be seen, but the latest trailer confirms that more than one familiar location will appear.

Patrick Stewart Returns As Professor X For Doctor Strange 2

Doctor Strange 2 Professor X

Perhaps the biggest reveal from any of Super Bowl LVI's trailers is the return of Patrick Stewart as Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While he's barely even glimpsed in the trailer, Stewart's voice is unmistakable, and it seems that Professor X is acting as part of the MCU's Illuminati. In the trailer, Strange is brought before a sort of tribunal for his crimes against the Multiverse, and Stewart's voice can be heard saying: "we should tell him the truth".

Exactly what truth Xavier could be referring to and exactly how Patrick Stewart is back in Doctor Strange 2 isn't entirely clear, but it's by far the most exciting reveal yet for MCU fans. It's long been rumored that Doctor Strange 2 might incorporate Mutants into the MCU, but the "Big Game" trailer all but confirms it. Trailers from the Super Bowl are always packed with exciting reveals, but 2022 has perhaps featured some of the biggest to date.
