Summary
- Madame Web has a 13% Rotten Tomatoes score, but it's not the worst in the superhero genre.
- Several superhero movies, like Batman & Robin and Elektra, have even lower scores.
- Max Steel holds an impressive 0% on Rotten Tomatoes, showing it's one of the worst-reviewed films of all time.
Madame Web somehow did worse, currently holding a 13%.
It's important to note that Rotten Tomatoes is an algorithm that collects reviews from critics. The score isn't Rotten Tomatoes giving the film a 13%, but that means 13% of recognized critics gave the film a 6/10 or better. A majority of critics didn't like the film, even if they hated it or just mildly disliked it. Still, it's an abysmal score, but it isn't the bottom of the barrel for the superhero genre. Here are 10 superhero movies that have lower Rotten Tomatoes scores than Madame Web.

10 Moments That Almost Made Madame Web Work (& What Went Wrong With Them)
Madame Web is being panned as a complete trainwreck, but in truth, Sony's Spider-Man spinoff proved it had some potential before wasting it.

Jonah Hex is a rather obscure DC comics character, but Warner Bros. decided to take a shot at an adaptation. While the film has an all-star cast with Josh Brolin, Megan Fox, Michael Fassbender, Will Arnett, and John Malkovich, it failed to land with critics and audiences, with many calling it an unfocused mess. It completely flopped at the box office, grossing only $11 million on a $47 million budget. The character itself is rather interesting, but this film failed to make him captivating or memorable.

Batman & Robin is notorious for being one of the worst superhero movies ever made. Directed by Joel Schumacher, the film starred George Clooney as the Caped Crusader, along with Arnold Schwarzenegger as the hilarious Mr. Freeze and Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy. The film was such a massive flop with critics and audiences that it sunk Batman as a viable film franchise until Christopher Nolan saved the hero with Batman Begins in 2005.

Elektra was an odd choice for Fox's Marvel universe. While Jennifer Garner had some star power, 2003's Daredevil wasn't exactly a hit with critics, so a spinoff didn't make a lot of sense. Unfortunately, the film didn't manage to justify its existence, as critics panned it, and it flopped at the box office. Garner's Elektra could have a shot at redemption 19 years later, as reports suggest she will make an appearance in the MCU's Deadpool & Wolverine.

Christopher Reeves didn't have the greatest final outing as Superman, as his final film was Superman IV: The Quest For Peace. This film faced several behind-the-scenes creative and production issues, so it's hard to know who's to blame for this disaster. However, it's still a mess of a movie, with many critics and audiences taking issue with the lame villain, Nuclear Man, and terrible special effects, which looked outdated, even by 1987's standards. Fortunately, there are the first two Superman movies with Reeves that audiences can him by.

2015's Fantastic Four failed to reboot the franchise with a film that didn't inject any life into its classic Marvel characters. Critics found this movie incredibly dull, and it didn't help that director Josh Trank blamed the studio for the film's lackluster quality before it even came out. While Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, and Jamie Bell are compelling actors, it was hard for them to do anything great with this script. Hopefully, the MCU can finally deliver the Fantastic Four adaptation many have wanted to see.

5 Steel - 8%
Shaquille O'Neal Couldn't Save Steel
Steel is a 1997 film directed by Kenneth Johnson, featuring Shaquille O'Neal as John Henry Irons, a weapons designer who becomes a vigilante after his research is exploited by a ruthless arms dealer. With the help of his expertise in metallurgy and technology, Irons constructs a powerful suit of armor to fight for justice and protect his community from the dangerous weapons he helped create.
Shaquille O'Neal didn't have a major movie career after Kazaam and Steel, and there's a clear reason why. Shaq was a tremendous basketball player but struggled to act in a leading role in a film. However, that was far from the main problem of Steel, as critics tore this movie apart for its poor action scenes and uninteresting story. Steel is a more obscure DC character, and he didn't gain any more popularity after this film.

Supergirl Couldn't Repeat The Success Of Superman (1978)

1978's Superman made viewers believe a man could fly, but 1984's Supergirl didn't have the same results. If there were any hopes of building a mini cinematic universe with Superman and Supergirl, those hopes were dashed with this film, which was panned by critics and flopped at the box office. The main critiques from critics included a nonsensical story with characters who failed to draw any interest. Helen Slater did the best she could, but couldn't do much with the material. Hopefully, Milly Alcock's Supergirl will have a better script.

An Acclaimed Lead Actor Couldn't Elevate Catwoman
Catwoman

Catwoman is a famous DC anti-hero, but one wouldn't know it from this movie, which changes almost everything about the character. Halle Berry is an excellent actor, but it's impossible to make this script work, especially when she is wearing that goofy outfit. The effects are terrible, the villain is boring, and the direction often makes this movie incomprehensible. After winning the Razzie for Worst Actor for Catwoman, Berry called the movie a "piece of s**t", and critics agreed with her.

Zoom is an original superhero flick that tried to capitalize on the growing trend of superhero movies by providing a new, original chracter. However, it failed spectacularly, becoming a box office bomb and being ripped to shreds by critics and audiences. Even though it starred comedic talents like Tim Allen, Chevy Chase, and Courteney Cox, it was spectacularly unfunny and failed to make its superhero team compelling. This was buried behind other films like The Incredibles and Sky High, which offered a clever spin on superheroes with fantastic results.

Max Steel should be praised for achieving an incredible accomplishment. It's one of the few films on Rotten Tomatoes that garnered a 0%. Not a single surveyed critic thought this film was good, and that's saying something considering the movies that manage to find a few favorable reviewers.
Based on a Mattel action figure, Max Steel is centered around Max McGrath and his alien companion Steel, who combine to become the superhero Max Steel. Unfortunately, this combination of worlds didn't lead to box office or critical success, and this film has been mostly forgotten about since its 2016 release.
