In light of the world being hijacked by Avengers plan to kill him with it. As Doctor Doom’s rule rages on to no end, Marvel’s new band of unlikely heroes has assembled a weapon that could be the key to taking him down.

In a preview of Superior Avengers #2, written by Steve Foxe, with art by Luca Maresca, the Superior Avengers have a futuristic weapon they call the Arcane Warhead, which is so powerful, it requires a strong source of arcane energy, like the Scarlet Witch, to charge it to full capacity. With this weapon, the Superior Avengers hope to kill Sorcerer Supreme Doctor Doom.

It has been established that the Superior Avengers are from a future where Doctor Doom still reigns over the world; these unique heroes are confirmation that Doctor Doom is still the villain fans have come to know.

The Arcane Warhead is a massive, bulky cube of gold cylinders and wires, of which its origins have yet to be unveiled, however, Onslaught’s suggestion of using Scarlet Witch to power it entails that it is one of the most powerful weapons in the Marvel Universe. Since the weapon is powered by Arcane Energy, the Arcane Warhead most likely holds the potential to be just as powerful as whoever's energy it absorbs. Though the Superior Avengers opted not to use Wanda Maximoff, out of fear of the Avengers and X-Men, there is still a wide range of magical heroes they could employ.

Previously, in Superior Avengers #1, Killmonger revealed that it was the Superior Avengers who killed Doctor Doom in their timeline; there’s a good chance that the Arcane Warhead was the weapon that ended Sorcerer Supreme Doctor Doom. If this is the case, then that means the Arcane Warhead is even most powerful weapons in Marvel lore, suring the might of both the Sorcerer Supreme and Scarlet Witch.

Marvel Introduces A "Deus Ex Machina," But Is It Too Good To Be True?

Bringing the Arcane Warhead into the battle seems like it would be the ultimate key to freeing Earth from Doom’s rule and the dystopic future the Superior Avengers are from, a true Deus Ex Machina, but so far, Doom has shown he is one step ahead of everyone. With this new power brought into the fight, there is also the possibility of great risk, as there is always the chance that Doctor Doom will take the weapon and use it against them. On the other hand, the Superior Avengers or Doom himself could use Doom’s magic to power the weapon.

The Arcane Warhead might be one of the few viable solutions the heroes have to stop Doctor Doom’s totalitarian rule.

In just a few short weeks, Doom has turned a large majority of the population against the world’s heroes, which has led to an unprecedented gap in the Earth’s defenses in spite of Doctor Doom’s Sorcerer Supreme power, from what the Superior Avengers have hinted, a dark evil much worse than Doom is about to plague Earth if they don’t use the Arcane Warhead. Despite the uncertainty surrounding this dangerously powerful weapon, the heroes are running out of options, and the Arcane Warhead might be one of the few viable solutions the heroes have to stop Doctor Doom’s totalitarian rule.

The Superior Avengers' Desperation To Take Down Doom Is A Reminder That He's Still A Villain

Doom Can't Fool Everyone For Long

Doom may have swayed the public into believing his rule was for the better by ending all wars and poverty, but Doom is still the selfish ruler he’s always been, and the existence of the Superior Avengers and the Arcane Warhead is proof of that. When Abomination feels magical energy in the Negative Zone, he mistakes it for Doom’s presence because, in the future, Doom made it so he was the only being able to wield magic. In truth, Doom’s rule created a power vacuum, making it easier for other cosmic conquerors such as Dormammu to easily attack Earth.

Whether intentional or not, Marvel has created a weapon with devastating, lore-altering potential.

Dormammu was only the tip of the iceberg, as the Superior Avengers have implied their future under Doctor Doom’s rule has been devastated by a cosmic monster that shares a similar appearance to the dimension-consuming entity, the Blight, seen in The Amazing Spider-Man #69. To avoid this fate, the Superior Avengers will undoubtedly use the Arcane Warhead; however, the heroes have also acknowledged that it will need a sacrifice, with Killmonger noting they’d have to kill the Scarlet Witch to fully charge it. Whether intentional or not, Marvel has created a weapon with devastating, lore-altering potential.
