The first trailer for James Gunn's DC Universe movie has yet to arrive. The project's director, James Gunn, recently teased that it would not be long before the Superman movie trailer would be released, and a new update has since pinpointed when that should be.

According to a new report from Collider, the DCU Superman movie's trailer will arrive in mid-December. The trailer is expected to play in theaters before Disney's Mufasa: The Lion King, though the outlet mentions that the DC movie's trailer being played before the latest entry in The Lion King franchise is not yet certain.

If the report is accurate, fans will have to wait a month at most for the first official trailer of the film that opens the way for all the planned movies in James Gunn's DCU. December 15th marks the 46th anniversary of Christopher Reeve's Superman: The Movie, so that would be the perfect date for the trailer to be released.

The DCU's First Film Is Seemingly Skipping A Big Event

Collider mentions that "the trailer is tentatively expected to arrive online around mid-December." Based on that, it seems like there might not be an event planned for the Superman movie trailer to debut, with the footage only being dropped online at a set date. That connects with a recent update. James Gunn revealed on Threads that he will not be at CCXP in Brazil because of his busy schedule. Likewise, DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran will also be unavailable for the major event.

Without DC Studios' co-CEOs, it makes sense that the Superman movie might end up not having a at CCXP Brazil. The event is set to take place from December 5th to December 8th. According to the new Superman movie report, the DCU film's trailer will arrive in mid-December, which means it will be released online a little after CCXP, further solidifying that it is hard to expect a major presence for the Superman movie at the event, even though it is DC Studios' next film on the schedule.

Our Take On The Superman Movie Trailer’s Release Date

The First Official Footage From The DCU Movie Can't Come Soon Enough

James Gunn's New Version of the Superman Movie Logo

I'm excited about the fact that we now have a release window for the first Superman movie trailer, but more so that it is very soon. While I think that such an anticipated movie warrants a trailer release at an event, if the Superman movie trailer ends up just being shared online as a surprise release, then I'm sure the internet will be set ablaze just the same. David Corenswet's Man of Steel and the rest of the cast looked great in the DC film's set photos, so I'm looking forward to what Superman has in store.
