Warning! This article contains spoilers for Superman & Lois season 4, episode 6.
Lex Luthor appears more and more unhinged in every episode of Superman and Lois season 4, but I think he could actually win in a dark twist for the show, but maybe not as you'd expect. Superman & Lois has been an incredible exploration of the later life of a mature Superman, and his efforts to raise his family away from the noise and chaos of Metropolis without the distractions of the wider DCU . However, ever since Clark and the rest of the Kent's returned to Smallville, it seems like their lives have only gotten more complicated.
And now, in season 4, with Lex Luthor looming his terrifying presence around every corner, it seems like the show is on a dark path to a finale that is going to take some incredibly intense turns. Clark has already died, been brought back, and now gotten into a brutal fist fight with Luthor, but it seems like Luthor has something up his sleeve that could end things with a bang. If, like me, you have been utterly captivated by this final season of Superman & Lois, I think it's worth taking a closer look at what Lex Luthor could potentially be planning for the series finale.
Lex Luthor's Increasingly Unhinged Acts Suggest He Has A Dire Plan For His Last Confrontation With Superman
Lex Luthor Has An Incredible Plan To Take Down Superman
In Superman & Lois, season 4, episode 6, Clark and Lex come to blows right in the streets of Smallville. Despite Clark being weakened by his containing the heart of his father-in-law, General Lane, and Luthor triggering a series of red sun lights to weaken Superman, Clark still manages to put a beating down on the terrifying villain who has nothing left to lose. But even while Lex took a beating, he laughed in Clark's face and made him feel like a monster for sinking to his level.

I'm So Glad Superman & Lois Is Covering The 1 Secret Identity Story I Was Convinced They'd Avoid
New episodes of Superman & Lois have hinted that an important secret identity seems to be public knowledge, which may have enormous consequences.
And in truth, I think that is exactly what Luthor wants. Luthor is a cruel and calculating nemesis who has become entirely obsessed with turning Lois Lane and Clark Kent's lives upside down. He failed to kill Superman, but now, armed with the knowledge of his secret identity, it feels like Luthor is intentionally trying to bring him down to his level, no matter what the cost might be. Luthor wants to destroy the image and symbol of Superman, and it seems clear that he wants that more than anything in his life.
Lex Luthor "Winning" Against Clark & Lois Still Looks Like It Might Ruin His Life
Superman Is A Symbol For Hope And Justice
The thing is, this obsession that is fueling Luthor has pushed him to become the most erratic and terrifying version of himself possible. He couldn't take his mind off his revenge, even to repair the relationship with his daughter and get a shot at getting to know her son. In his desperation, he moved into a tiny dingy room in Smallville, despite having vast wealth and luxurious properties where he could indulge in the finer things in life. Heck, he is even trying to burn his money by offering utterly ridiculous figures to the residents of Smallville in an effort to stay close to Lois and Clark.
So, with all of that in mind, it doesn't really feel like Luthor is looking out for his own interests anymore, aside from the destruction of Lois' reputation, and Superman's status as a hero. Since he is ready and willing to give up family, money, comfort, and any other earthly comfort, it seems like he may be willing to go so far as to give up his life in an effort to chase this delusional mission. And considering the damage he has done so far, he might just win.
I Think Lex Luthor's Secret Superman & Lois Plan Being Real Would Make The Final Season Even Stronger
This Could Be The Best Superman Story On TV
It might be a stretch to think Luthor is willing to go this far, sacrificing himself just to win, but it would really be a crowning moment for the series that started out on the sidelines and now stands as the last non-DCU show on TV. Superman & Lois has grown to be one of the most incredible and compelling Superman stories in live-action, and their version of Luthor appears to be the most ruthless and monstrous ever seen.

DC Just Gave Lex Luthor The Perfect Theme Song
The latest iteration of Superman’s most terrifying nemesis has received the perfect theme song during a devastating and emotional scene.
So, with the show now ready to play out its swan song, it makes sense for them to go as dark, intense, and dramatic as possible. And ultimately, it seems like Luthor will stop at nothing until he gets his way, which is an incredible contrast if Superman continues to embody his ideals of truth, justice, mercy, and hope. If Luthor tries to force Clark's hand, Superman can still win by showing mercy, but it looks like Luthor is not holding anything back in Superman & Lois' final outing.
