Warning! Spoilers for Flashpoint Beyond #0 by DC Comics

DC Comics is reminding readers that Flashpoint Superman has one of the darkest origins in the entire universe, and it's not particularly close. In Flashpoint Beyond #0, the world is made known of the previously redacted files regarding Superman's arrival on Earth. While the Kryptonian rocket carrying Kal-El caused massive death and destruction after it landed in Flashpoint's Metropolis, DC reveals that more than 35,000 people died when the hero first arrived - making the public believe Superman is about to start an alien war.

In the Flashpoint timeline from DC Comics, Kal-El never made it to Kansas after his parents sent him to Earth following the imminent destruction of Krypton. Instead, Kal-El ended up crash-landing in Metropolis, killing thousands. The government would find the Kryptonian first and turn him into Subject One, a supersoldier designed to be their personal weapon against the biggest threats in the universe. However, Flashpoint Superman ceased to exist after The Flash fixed the timeline. But, with Flashpoint Batman somehow returning to the previously destroyed reality, the public is made aware of the darkest Superman origin.

In Flashpoint Beyond #0 by Geoff Johns, Eduardo Risso, Trish Mulivill, and Rob Leigh from DC Comics, Thomas Wayne continues his investigations in the Batcave to figure out how the Flashpoint reality returned. On TV near him, a newscaster discusses the ongoing deadly war between the Amazon and Atlanteans, how the greatest heroes on Earth have disappeared, and what happened to the "Super-Man." It's revealed the CBI released hundreds of unredacted documents on the arrival of Subject One thirty years ago. Superman's darkest origin has an official death count of thirty-five thousand men, women, and children after his crash-landing in Metropolis - leading to calls to prepare for a war in the form of a Kryptonian invasion.

Superman Darkest Origin

Putting a number to the death count following Flashpoint Superman's arrival on Earth certainly emphasizes his dark origin, even if Subject One didn't intentionally kill anyone. With the CMI releasing documents and telling the public of the 35,000+ people who lost their lives following his arrival in Metrpolis, another war is on the verge of breaking out in the Flashpoint reality. DC Comics has already teased a future battle between Batman and Superman, meaning the hero won't stay in hiding following the revelation to the public. It's not clear whether that's a good or a bad thing.

Whether he's a friend or foe, Subject One, aka Superman of the Flashpoint reality, has one of the unintentional deadliest death counts in his universe. His dark origin and being groomed to become a government weapon could make him one of the biggest threats to Batman restoring the Flashpoint Universe. But, it's also possible Superman will look for redemption and Thomas Wayne in his quest to bring back a better world. DC will soon reveal Subject One's true intentions and what that means for the Flashpoint reality. Flashpoint Beyond #0 by DC Comics is in comic book stores now.
