death of Martha Kent, Clark and Lois are using this new chapter to make their family lives better. Clark in particular is one that is having to figure out how to balance his responsibilities as Superman as well as being a loving father and husband.
The Superman that the Arrowverse is presenting is one that has been doing this for over a decade, as established as early as in Crisis on Infinite Earths merged the worlds together, Clark had experienced a lot in his life as Superman. In the post-Crisis world, Earth-Prime is now putting up to a new trial with being able to the world's greatest hero while also taking care of his family. That's the aspect that is most refreshing for this take on Clark and Lois as this hasn't been visited before in past TV shows and films.
One of the biggest layers of Superman, no matter which iteration, is his Kryptonian powers that have all in their own rights become iconic about the character. Depending on who's being asked, some might see his ability to fly as the best one while others may go for heat-vision, super-strength, the slowed aging, or super-speed. But the Arrowverse highlighted one of his other powers that sometimes doesn't get as much attention as it should get. While Clark has a lot of amazing superpowers, his super-hearing is perhaps one of the most important one out of them all. It's used in every episode, whether it's Superman listening for one of his emergency devices, keeping tabs on his family, or hearing a disaster occurring on the other side of the world.
Even when Clark's in Smallville, his enhanced hearing is what allows him to hear the entire world and determine what is needed of him in that situation. Sometimes his super-hearing gets forgotten to some extent or shown from a more painful context, like in Man of Steel when Clark first developed it as a kid. For a young Kryptonian that is still discovering all his powers, the super-hearing might have the most negative effect because of the pain it causes initially. For a Superman in his prime that has mastered that Kryptonian gift can really be a present part of the world and not just limited to Smallville or Metropolis.
Clark's super-hearing is also useful for being able to keep an ear open in case Lois or their kids Jordan and Jonathan ever get in trouble from a distance. Since Jordan has at least some of Superman's Kryptonian power-set, Clark may get to guide him through something as overwhelming as super-hearing when he first develops it. That's a big benefit of Superman & Lois' take on Superman being as experienced as he is because of how long he's been doing this.
