Warning: Potential SPOILERS for Superman #1After decades of waiting, Superman story starting this February. Lois Lane has been working as a reporter since her debut, and now she'll finally be the Editor-in-Chief of The Daily Planet.
New Superman writer Joshua Williamson revealed this development in a tweet promoting the new #1's final order cut-off date, which is January 29th. The tweet includes two unlettered pages of art by Jamal Campbell from the series.
The first page features Superman battling his enemy Livewire, and the second shows Lois Lane at work. A close-up reveals a plaque with Lois' name and her new job title: Editor-in-Chief.
Lois Lane Was Always Destined to be The Daily Planet's Editor-in-Chief
award-winning wife, Lois Lane, as they return to their lives in Metropolis and The Daily Planet.
But it already looks like Clark and Lois are reinventing their own status quo, despite this "return to normal" for the couple. Clark is getting his own kind of upgrade with some supercharged powers, but this tweet from Williamson promises a huge upgrade for one of DC's oldest and most famous female characters. Lois Lane has been a hero in her own right for decades, working as an investigative journalist and breaking stories that affect the entirety of the DC Universe. More than that, she's been working as a journalist since 1938 in Action Comics #1; it's high time she got a promotion, even if it turns out she's only serving as Editor-in-Chief while Perry White recovers from his heart attack.
Lois Lane has long been one of DC's most powerful characters, even without a cape or "super" powers of her own. This promotion to Editor-in-Chief of The Daily Planet is a long time coming for Superman's wife; readers can find out more in Superman #1, available this February from DC Comics.
