Superman is one of the most popular and beloved heroes in both the DC Universe and the real world. While Superman's popularity in real life is easily understood, his love in the DC world is a bit more perplexing. Considering he operates primarily out of America and mostly deals with American problems, it's easy to wonder why people the world over love him.
In the main story of Action Comics #1067 by Gail Simone and Eddy Barrows, readers will finally see exactly what makes Superman a worldwide hero. After a powerful alien empire decides to use Earth as its personal arena, it's up to Superman to try and prevent the loss of life, and this journey takes him all over the world.

Superman Is a Worldwide Hero for a Simple Reason: Aliens
Action Comics #1067 Variant Cover by Ben Oliver
While Superman certainly wants to use his powers to save everyone in the world, due to the nature of superhero narratives, he's mostly relegated to solving issues that happen primarily in Metropolis, which is in America. This means he saves more American citizens on average. There's nothing wrong with this, but it's always been a bit confusing as to why he's beloved by the entire world when he really only focuses on a small part of it. While Superman definitely has saved the planet time and again from world-ending threats, this is a bit of an abstract concept for the average citizen, who wouldn't even know who Darkseid is.
This new story perfectly explains why Superman is so well-known and beloved the world over. While Superman saving the entire planet from world-ending threats is nice, it relies on the general population to either know a world-ending threat was happening or know that Superman was the one who solved it. This is a lot to ask from the average person, especially someone living thousands of miles away from where the actual world-ending fight is happening. But this story shows Superman traveling the entire world and saving tons of citizens from different cultures and continents.
Superman Will Save Everyone He Can, No Matter What
Action Comics #1067 Variant Cover by Wes Craig
Superman is one of the greatest heroes that DC has to offer, and this new story will explain the origin of how Superman became such an international icon. While it's true that Superman responds to any natural disasters he can around the world, this isn't covered that much in DC's stories. Typically, Superman comics are too busy showing Superman dealing with the next major threat, which often revolves around Metropolis. This story will be a great look at the world and its people responding to Superman as he saves them for the first time.
