Everyone Forgets about Superman's Ventriloquism and Persuasion Powers

Superman Speaking in Space with Ventriloquism DC

Superman fans know that the Man of Steel has had some truly odd powers over his long and storied career. Sure, everyone knows about his impressive array of visions such as X-ray, telescopic, and the aforementioned heat vision. But during the Gold and Silver Age, Superman was given all sorts of outrageous powers at the drop of a hat. If the story demanded it, Clark could travel through time, mold his face into any shape necessary, or even produce miniature clones of himself. Much like Superman II, Clark could even cause short-term memory loss with a powerful enough smooch.

As outrageous as it sounds, both persuasion and super-ventriloquism are powers that Superman has demonstrated before. Superman had low levels of mind control as early as the 1940s (though it was a power he used incredibly rarely and only on villains). Super-ventriloquism is another power Clark would often use to fool others and help protect his secret identity when the situation called for it. Sure, these powers sound silly and don't 'feel' like a power Superman should have. But as specific as these particular abilities are, they could prove useful in helping Superman in the most unexpected circumstances.

Superman's Goofiest Powers Could Be Real Life-Savers

Superman is not the kind of person to take someone's mind away. But if Clark has amazing persuasion powers and can talk someone out of doing something they'd regret, it's not a stretch to see him using that. Same for his super-ventriloquism. If all it takes to get Superman out of a jam is by throwing his voice, he'd use that technique in a heartbeat. Sure, it's not as impressive as super strength, nor as fun to watch as heat vision. But these incredibly overlooked techniques might just end up being the ace in the hole Superman needs one day.
