Summary

  • Wonder Woman and Superman go above and beyond to find the perfect birthday gift for Batman, showcasing their friendship and understanding of him.
  • Despite doubts from Superman, their heartwarming photo reel gift is well-received by Batman, symbolizing their unbreakable bond.

WARNING: Spoilers for Wonder Woman #7! Batman's SUPER Best Friends by selecting the perfect birthday present, showcasing their deep understanding of The Dark Knight, perhaps even suring that of the Bat-Family. However, despite the incredible thoughtfulness and sentimentality of their gift, it will never be able to beat Red Hood's birthday gift to Batman when he was Robin.

Tom King and Guillem March's Wonder Woman #7 presents Diana and Superman with one of their toughest missions yet: finding the perfect birthday gift for Batman. Their quest leads them to Andromeda Mall, the largest shopping mall in the galaxy, where they visit hundreds of shops in search of a gift for their friend.

Wonder Woman #7 featuring a Photo Reel of Diana and Clark for Batman

After numerous unsuccessful attempts, Wonder Woman suggests a unique idea: a photo reel of themselves taken in a photo booth. With a spiral notebook and marker, Diana writes "Happy Birthday Batman" and holds it up in the various pictures taken with Clark, creating the perfect present.

Despite Diana's confidence in their gift choice for Bruce, Clark remains doubtful, asking her, "You think it's enough?" He fears that the low-cost and simple gift won't meet the former billionaire's expectations. However, Wonder Woman assures him that it is the perfect gift because of what it represents—their friendship and unbreakable bond that will always endure. She reassures Superman that Batman will understand the significance of the gift. However, a moment later, in a comedic twist, Clark suggests that they still make Bruce a diamond "just in case," to which Diana quickly agrees is a good idea.

Even though Superman and Wonder Woman’s gift is extremely well-received by Batman, who puts it on the dash of his Batmobile, their gift will never sur Red Hood’s gift in DC's Robin: 80th Anniversary story, "More Time," by Judd Winick and Dustin Nguyen. In this tale, Robin Jason presents Batman with Thomas Wayne's old watch that he attempted to fix. The story then jumps ahead to Jason, now the vigilante Red Hood, leaving the same watch, now completely fixed, on the Batmobile. Due to the emotional connection of the gift to Jason and Bruce's father, there is simply no topping this gift.

TRINITY: DC Needs to Bring Back the SuperWonderBat Dynamic in Comics

DC Knight Terrors Event Superman Batman Wonder Woman

If the Wonder Woman #7 story proves anything, it’s that DC’s greatest Trinity needs to return to comics. Bruce, Diana, and Clark share one of the most tightly-knit friendships in the DC universe, made even more exceptional by the fact that they are the DCU’s greatest heroes. Hence, their friendship is not only wholesome but also brings plenty of worthwhile stories to the table. Ever since the disbandment of the Justice League after the events of Dark Crisis, fans have seen less and less of Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman interacting, and it is far past time this be rectified.
