While the show succeeded in running for 15 seasons, several folks know that Supernatural was supposed to have ended after its fifth season. The initial plans meant concluding the primary story arc, where the brothers attempt to stop Lucifer from causing the apocalypse. Although the show continued after season 5, many viewers know that the glory days of Supernatural still stand during the Kripke era (from season 1 to season 5).

Though the seasons following season 5 do not hold the same amount of cohesive and mythical story arcs for the brothers and their friends, there are episodes in the post-Kripke era that managed to become fan favorites. Some of these episodes were filled with tragedy and sadness, while others were more meta and hilarious.

Death's Door (2011) - 9.3

Bobby lies in a hospital bed with a gunshot wound in Supernatural

Though the Purgatory story may have been boring at times, there was one episode that left fans teary and emotional, giving a bit of personal touch to the story. After getting shot in the head by Dick Roman, Bobby ends up in the hospital, but not without going through his spiritual adventures with an old friend, Rufus.

Considering that Bobby has been a surrogate father to the boys, it broke the viewer's hearts when he eventually ed away after being on the show for several seasons. However, it was the final bittersweet moment where the episode reflects on Bobby's happiest memory of being with the boys on Christmas Day, which caused fans to really lose it.

Sacrifice (2013) - 9.3

Sacrifice Supernatural

In the season 8 finale, the brothers hope to complete the trials to keep the demons out of Earth for good. However, it was Sam who wanted to make the ultimate sacrifice, which meant Dean had to rush and save Sam's life.

Both Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki provide some of their best performances, given the intense but forgiving moment for the brothers in the episode. In addition to the moments showing the angel falling from Heaven, season 8's "Sacrifice" is considered one of the best season finales since season 5's "Swan Song" due to the emotional performances by the cast and the shocking cliffhanger.

Do You Believe In Miracles (2014) - 9.3

Season 9 Finale Supernatural

Another season finale makes it to the list with a death of a major character in the season 9 finale, "Do You Believe in Miracles." However, it was the final moments of the episode that revealed that the Mark of Cain not only revived Dean but that he became the King of Hell, creating another major cliffhanger for the following season.

Moriah (2019) - 9.3

Supernatural Moriah

Sometimes, Supernatural knows how to end their seasons with a bang. Like "Sacrifice" and "Do You Believe In Miracles," season 14's finale, "Moriah," shocked the audience when everyone learned that God is a selfish and self-absorbed villain.

When Jack tries to change the ways of humanity, he realizes that his powers are out of control and tries to own up to his mistakes. After things did not go God's way, as Dean does not kill Jack (for accidentally killing his mother), it was God who took matters to his hand by smiting Jack and starting the apocalypse. As this was the penultimate season, the episode ends with a nail-biting cliffhanger, leaving viewers chilled from the events.

Lebanon (2019) - 9.4

The last time viewers ever saw all four Winchesters together on screen was when the boys traveled in time to meet a younger Mary and John Winchester. However, as Mary officially returned to the show since season 12, it was only a matter of time that another Winchester reunion took place.

With hopes of a reunion, fans did not have to wait any longer in Supernatural's 300th episode, "Lebanon." As Jeffrey Dean Morgan reprises his role of John Winchester, the Winchester family once again reunited to one of the best family moments that the boys ever imagined. While the reunion was short-lived due to the repercussions of John being in the wrong timeline, it still gave viewers a moment to cherish.

Fan Fiction (2014) - 9.5

Fan Fiction Supernatural

What happens when Supernatural turns into a musical"

The episode has a combination of both fun and touching moments, including references to Samulet and fan fiction like Destiel and robots. Although the episode is quite unusual, especially given the boy's taste, fans instantly loved the concept. Of course, the episode serves as a tribute to the fanbase that ed the show for so long.

Viewers were excited to witness the buildup to his revelation and to become Sam and Dean's one hope in defeating Darkness.

The French Mistake (2011) - 9.6

The French Mistake - Sam and Dean do lines with Misha Collins in Supernatural

Though season 6 does not live up to the expectations of previous seasons, it does offer perhaps one of the funniest and most entertaining episodes to date with "The French Mistake." In an attempt to protect the boys from Raphael, Sam and Dean end up in an alternate universe, where their lives are made into a TV show, and they are played by some actors named Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, respectively.

"The French Mistake" is just evidence of why some of the most meta episodes are some of Supernatural's best work of content. It is one of the most fun episodes, where the actors got to play over-the-top versions of themselves while the episode still focused on the real matter regarding Raphael and the civil war in Heaven. Furthermore, it has the right amount of humor that balances with the serious tone of the major storyline in season 6, which is not always easy to accomplish.

Baby (2015) - 9.6

Sam and Dean sleeping in the Impala

While the stakes were high with Amara/Darkness on the loose, the boys took a break from their mission and hunted down unknown monsters. Unlike other episodes before, season 11's "Baby" was shot from the perspective of Dean's 1967 Chevy Impala, which he calls Baby.

Fans and critics regarded "Baby" as one of the best episodes to feature on Supernatural due to the creative content and immaculate cinematography and narration through a car's perspective. The Impala symbolizes the journey that the brother has been through as they traveled across the country, and furthermore, the story works well for the episode's purpose as the brothers continue to hunt down monsters with Baby by their side.

Scoobynatural (2018) - 9.6

Scooby Doo's gang and the Winchesers run away from the monster in Supernatural's ScoobyNatural

One of the best things about Supernatural is that in all the heartbreak and tragedy that the Winchesters face, they can sometimes have a bit of fun. It may sound weird to combine monsters and comedy, but Supernatural manages to allow that to work for several seasons.

Supernatural had their first-ever crossover with the popular cartoon show good amount of humor and nostalgia, making it an easy fan favorite. Some of the best moments include Dean fanboying about Daphne, Velma flirting with Sam, and Dean attempting his Scooby-Doo impression.
