Without the demons, gods, witches, and the plain evil humans who wreak havoc on the Supernatural world, it's fair to say there wouldn't be a show to speak of. It seems these monsters grow more creative as the seasons progress, finding new and inventive ways to torture the show's heroes.

While the women of Supernatural have played vital roles in hunting monsters and putting an end to the various evils of the world, some women, even some of the same women, have committed truly villainous crimes. Let's look at some of the most evil things the women of Supernatural have done.

Ruby Lies To Sam

Ruby is beheld as one of the best villains the Winchesters have ever encountered, on of her turn that took the brothers and fans by complete surprise. Everyone was skeptical about the demon who claimed to be different, but during her time on the show, she managed to win over Sam and most fans. She even gets through to Dean, earning his trust after their battles with Lilith and the angels.

As Season 4 comes to a close, she leads Sam to kill the demon Lilith, knowing that the act would open Lucifer's cage and trigger the Biblical apocalypse.

Lilith Sets Lucifer Free

Lillith extends her hand to use her power in Supernatural

Ruby would never have had the opportunity to carry out her act of deceit if Lilith had not also wanted to free the devil from his cage. After a year of tormenting the boys and even sending Dean to Hell, she ensures that all the pieces have lined up before she lets Sam kill her, completing her task.

When God brings her back to take the Equalizer from the boys and destroy it, she reveals that she was aware that her death would be the final seal, extinguishing any doubt that what happened before the apocalypse wasn't exactly what she had wanted to happen.

Bela Steals The Colt

Bela Talbot in Supernatural

Well-known in hunting circles as someone who "procures unique items for a select clientele," Bela is regarded one of the most clever and skilled characters in the series, enough to have been a hunter herself, if she had chosen.

She first happens upon the Winchesters when they come into possession of a cursed rabbit's foot, which she steals from them. They encounter each other a few times more before she manages to swipe the Colt, the gun that can kill anything, right as the pair is closing in on Lilith. It's revealed later, though, that she had given the gun to Crowley, not to Lilith, as she had told Dean.

Ava Tricks Sam & Co.

Since discovering she was one of the psychic children made by the yellow-eyed demon, Ava was reluctant to embrace her new role, so it's nothing short of shocking when she reveals to Sam and the others who were trapped in the ghost town that she had been training with Azazel for months.

She also tells Sam that she had battled other groups of psychics and won. She even tries to convince them to go along with the demon's plan, showcasing her newfound abilities, before she is killed by Jake Talley.

Rowena Takes The Grimoire

Rowena started as a villain and even had a history of stealing ancient spell books, like the Book of the Damned, but she gradually proved herself an ally to the Winchesters, putting her life at risk to fight at their side against the evils of the world more than once. Perhaps that's why Rowena's switch to the dark side again comes as a shock.

When she encounters the Black Grimoire, she is finally able to free the magic the Grand Coven had taken from her. She goes on a killing spree until the boys and Billie come to stop her. Luckily, they talk her down, and she returns to being a helping hand to their efforts against the evils that would later present themselves.

Dagon Kidnaps Kelly

Supernatural Quiz - Dagon

The Winchesters had encountered Princes of Hell before, including Ramiel and, most prominently, Azazel, the demon who killed Mary and tried to groom Sam to lead an army of demons early in the series.

Dagon is introduced in Season 12. Like her brothers, she serves Lucifer, who gives her the unique opportunity to look after his child. She "saves" the pregnant Kelly Kline from attacking angels and holds her against her will for most of her pregnancy. Dagon torments her with the inevitability of Kelly's death in childbirth and the prospect of the demon raising the child as her own.

Dr. Hess Spearheads The Men Of Letters In The U.S.

Aside from their initial encounter with the Winchesters, in which Lady Bevell kidnaps and tortures Sam, the British Men of Letters appear welcoming and even friendly to the hunter family. It is later revealed that their intention all along was to systematically wipe out the American hunters and to replace them with their own organization.

When Dr. Hess begins to feel that the operatives' efforts have been diverted from her plan, she travels to the U.S. to oversee it. She orders the death of Mick Davies, which Ketch enacts, and then orders him to "exterminate" the rest of the American hunters.

Abaddon Takes Over Hell

Abaddon has a devious expression in Supernatural

On the heels of a young Henry Winchester, the last remaining Knight of Hell travels to Sam and Dean's time to find that Hell is being ruled by Crowley, whom she considers a lowly crossroads demon. She leads an uprising against him, appealing to the demons with the prospect of conquering Earth. Her efforts come at a particularly opportune time, as she began her campaign immediately after the angels fell from Heaven, powerless.

Her presence triggers some of the most critical elements of several following seasons. It's for the purpose of killing her that Dean takes on the Mark of Cain, the removal of which unleashes the Darkness.

Eve Raises Purgatory

Eve in Supernatural.

The Mother of All, referring to she who created all monsters, appears on the Winchesters' radar when she has dragons find a suitable vessel and raise her from Purgatory. They begin to notice that the monsters they have been hunting are behaving differently than they did before, such as werewolves turning without a full moon or new monsters like Khan worms appearing. They finally track down Eve when she creates vampire-wraith-shapeshifter hybrids.

She explains to them that since Crowley started taking souls from Purgatory in preparation for his war with the angels, she has been working to quickly turn humans so that their souls go to her Purgatory instead.

Amara Destroys The Sun

After the boys release her from her cage, the Darkness, certainly the most powerful villain of the series, terrorizes the world in order to be heard by her brother, God. When Chuck and Amara finally meet, she strikes him with a blow that brings him to the brink of death. As he dies, he takes with him the sun, the source of life on Earth.

Amara intends to wipe out her brother's creation and create a new world of her own making. Before she can follow through, however, she is reminded, as Chuck is, of the importance and resilience of family. She restores him instead, reuniting the two and bringing balance to the universe.
