With prequel spinoff The Winchesters coming to The CW, fans are wondering if it will be as good as Supernatural. One of the reasons the original show lasted so long is the connection and the bond that the audiences formed with the characters of the show like Sam, Dean, and Cas. The prequel is in production right now with the pilot already being shot and with every character and casting announcement comes the possibility for a new fan favorite to emerge.

Supernatural couldn't have lasted as long as it did without love from the fans. But just because the show found an audience doesn't mean they loved every single character. Many fans have taken to Reddit to share which character didn't exactly put a spell on them.

Naomi

Naomi in Supernatural

Naomi is one of the most hated characters in the Supernatural fandom. A Reddit , MishaKNJTrue talks about the angel and says, "I hate her with everything I am, was and ever will be, with every cell and every thought, she's the absolute worst and I despise her."

The hatred towards her is not surprising as she was one of the cruelest characters, especially in season 8. She was one of season 8's major antagonists as she tortured and brainwashed Castiel, and tried to make him kill Dean.

John

John in Supernatural

John has always been a controversial character in the fandom. Some fans justify the way he raised Sam and Dean but there are many who hate him for that same reason. Redditor Berserked2, names him as one of the worst characters, saying that he was a "terrible father."

Another , dobdog, explains why John is the worst, "The more you learn about John and the boys' upbringing, the worse john comes across. He was abusive. Dean steals food to feed Sam after he left them on their own and gets sent to a boys' home?? He wasn't a good person and nothing will excuse what he did."

Samuel

Samuel looking angry in Supernatural

Samuel Campbell is seen as one of the most pointless revivals in the show as he contributed nothing substantial to season 7's plot. One Redditor, comments, "Samuel Campbell... Even before he sold his grandsons out to Crowley, I didn't like the character. Love the actor, at least from his X-files days, but hated the character."

Apart from this , there are plenty of fans who have named him the worst character on the show. Another Redditor, Dogsrulekidsrule, says, "Samuel was an odd addition. He cared almost zero about his grandsons. In the earlier episode where Dean goes back and meets him, he seems more reasonable and likable to me."

Metatron

Metatron is captured and tortured by Dean in Supernatural

Metatron is an antagonist on Supernatural and fans despise him a lot for the way he uses others to achieve his goals. One of Metatron's detractors is carryonmywaywardson, who points out, "Metatron really is the worst among all, he’s a coward, hiding and using good people."

According to SleepySouthie, "Metatron was definitely my least favorite. He was like the Professor Umbridge of Supernatural." Metatron was the Scribe of God and in the name of making things right, he caused so much chaos and destruction. Not to mention, he killed Dean and forcefully took away Cas' grace.

Amelia

Amelia looking serious in Supernatural

Amelia was one of Sam's best romances, who came in season 8 when Dean and Cas were stuck in Purgatory and Sam spent a year with her. But many fans rant about the flatness of her character.

This Redditor says about the character, "Amelia is the only character I would like to permanently delete from the show. [...] Her whole storyline, demeanor, and the entire subplot could've been done so much better."

Gordon

Gordon Walker talks to a shadowy figure in Supernatural.

Gordon appeared in season 3 and he is a villain whom fans love to hate. Redditor dobdog named Gordon and Amelia as the characters they hate the most.

When asked about why they hate Gordon, they explain, "Like his beef with Sam was that Sam was too soft and he didn't think Sam had it in him to be a hunter unlike Dean and himself. Then turns around trying to kill Sam for being a psychic and being the Antichrist - even after being told that he was the opposite and that he was trying to stop the gates from opening."

Cole

Cole Trenton standing by a car in Supernatural

According to snoogle20, the worst character in the show is "Cole, the guy that was seeking revenge on Dean for killing his monster father in season ten." The Redditor further explains why they hate Cole and asserts, "Not the worst story concept. Could’ve been cool. But the character was a decade or so younger than Dean, yet they hired an actor that was around Jensen’s age and definitely didn’t look younger. I never could see past that. Pulled me out of any scene involving that subplot."

Meanwhile, TheTomlette, has different reasons for hating the character: "Honestly the age thing never bothered me, it was just the character in general. He was like a watered-down version of the Punisher if his family were still alive, only not interesting."

Billie (Death)

Lisa Berry as Billie in Supernatural 13.05

Billie was a reaper before she became the Death after Dean killed the old one. Many fans argue that while they liked Billie, she wasn't appealing as Death at all. Redditor error5903, says, "Billie(Death). As a reaper, she was alright but I HATED her as Death."

SkydivingSquid, comments, "There are a lot of annoying characters who I didn't like on the show, and Billie wasn't that bad, BUT her role and attitude as death were just horrible. Ruined the entire concept for me. I think she could have pulled it off had it been written differently, but the way it was just didn't work for me."

Mary

Mary looking distrusful in Supernatural

Mary's death was kicked off the entire plot of Supernatural and when she was brought back at the end of season 11, many fans felt that it ruined the character. Redditor melina2004, thinks that it's probably an unpopular opinion but they hated "Mary in the later seasons."

To this, DeanLaxer, replies, "I don't think this is as unpopular as you think because Mary was supposed to be dead. That was her whole concept from the get-go and it wasn't even in the realm of possibility that death could be subverted until later in the show and then a character dying was basically a joke."
