After six incredible seasons, Cloud 9 closed its doors for good. The two-part Superstore finale scored a 9.1 and 9.7 on IMDb, making them the highest-rated episodes of the series. It received rave reviews from critics and fans, and will likely become a staple in sitcom history as it continues to gain views through the power of streaming.

When America Ferrera departed the series, Superstore lost its protagonist, which ended the show's central love story. The sitcom was still funny without the rom-com aspect, but it wasn't as heartfelt as it had been at the start. Much to fans' excitement, Ferrera returned as Amy Sosa for the last few episodes of the show to help wrap up the story. All of the main characters changed drastically from the pilot to the finale, with their first and final quotes helping to exemplify it.

Sandra Kaluiokalani

Sandra goes to Mateo's candle-lit vigil.

"Okay, fine. Sal and I are having sex in the dressing rooms." - "Yeah?"

Sandra didn't appear until the second episode of Superstore and wasn't a main character until Season 5. When she's first introduced, she its that she's been sleeping with "Creepy Sal" on the clock. It's still a little odd how many of the employees had sex at the store and were never penalized for it.

Sandra was never treated with much respect, and she worked at Cloud 9 for weeks before Glenn realized she was an employee. Glenn apologizes to Sandra and tells her she has a forgettable face, but it would make her a good spy. Her last line wasn't very impactful, but that's because Sandra's future at the store was shown. In the montage, she's seen working at Zephra's new fulfillment as Dina's assistant manager.

Mateo Liwanag

Mateo looking confused in Superstore

"My name is Mateo Fernando Aquino Liwanag, and I'm here to make something of myself." - "Yes!"

Mateo's first line was an impactful one. He set high standards for himself and throughout the series he did whatever he could to live up to them. After Mateo discovered he was undocumented, he was detained by ICE leading to one of Superstore's most emotional storylines. However, he continued to pull his all into everything he did and he never gave up.

Because of Mateo's immigration status, he struggled to find work when Zephra announced that they were closing all of the Cloud 9 stores. Wanting to help out Mateo and keep the gang together, Glenn offers him a job at his hardware store. Mateo happily accepts and is seen with Glenn and Cheyenne at work in the flash-forward.

Glenn Sturgis

Glenn Sturgis looking confused in Superstore.

"Okay. Have fun now. Reflect." - "Alright, let's get to work!"

Amy tells Glenn that she's taking a mental health break after she sells a high-maintenance customer, who is later revealed to be Cheyenne's boyfriend, a cheap engagement ring. Glenn has always been understanding with his employees and that's something that doesn't change. He genuinely wants what's best for them and treats them as his own family, even if his methods are a little odd.

Reopening "Sturgis and Sons" was Glenn's fairy-tale ending. He was always heartbroken over his father's hardware store getting shut down, and it's how he ended up at Cloud 9 in the first place. Instead of retiring after Zephra shuts closes the store, Glenn helps his father's legacy live on and hires Cheyenne and Mateo to work with him.

Cheyenne Lee

An image of Cheyenne Lee smiling in Superstore.

"Hey, can I run out for two minutes? This thing is kicking my bladder like it owes him money." - "Yes!"

When Superstore first began, Cheyenne was a pregnant high-schooler who was working part-time at Cloud 9. She stops stocking products and runs over to Amy in a hurry, asking for a bathroom break. Her entrance was comedic and caused Jonah to realize that Amy, the girl he was dissing the employees to, worked at the store.

Cheyenne worked hard to become the floor supervisor at Cloud 9, so when the store closed, viewers needed to know that Cheyenne would continue to thrive in life. In the montage, she's seen cheering with Glenn and Mateo at "Sturgis and Sons." Working with her old boss and her best friend was a great way to conclude Cheyenne's story, and she seemed like she couldn't be happier.

Garrett McNeill

Garrett McNeill looks sad and leans on his hand

"The American Superstore, one-stop shopping for everything you could ever want or need." - "At any rate, thank you for shopping with us. Cloud 9 is now closed."

Garrett's voice is the first thing viewers hear when the pilot begins. He's in charge of making announcements over the store's intercom, and as the audience gets a look at the inside of Cloud 9, Garrett's voice-over introduces the basis of the series. His introduction is comedic, and it also provides plenty of insight into his character.

It's only fitting that Garrett's final announcement would be the last lines of the show. Despite not being very sentimental, Garrett discusses all the good times the employees of Cloud 9 had together. He narrates a montage that reveals where everyone ends up in the future, and after he announces that Cloud 9 is closed, the lights go out for good.

Dina Fox

Dina looking serious in Superstore.

"Just checking over your new-hire forms. American Citizen. Nice." - "I will."

Dina is first introduced when she's processing Jonah's new-hire paperwork. Her intensity added to the comedic value of the sitcom, and her opening scene gives viewers a taste of what's to come. Dina has an obvious crush on Jonah, but it doesn't go anywhere as he only has eyes for Amy. However, her seduction techniques were one of the best parts of the first season.

One of the most entertaining dynamics in Superstore has always been between Dina and Glenn. Their power struggle created some animosity, but it was what made their scenes so fun to watch. It was always clear that they cared about each other, and Dina even ended up being Glenn's surrogate. Dina promising Glenn that she'd take care of the store was a perfect way to showcase the evolution of their friendship.

Jonah Simms

Jonah Simms with his arms crossed on a ladder

"I didn't—is there a space for that?" - "Both of them"

Superstore begins on Jonah's first day working at Cloud 9. Dina goes over his paperwork and questions why he didn't write down his relationship status. Jonah is understandably confused but jumps right into work when he notices a "customer" stacking toilet paper. After making himself sound like an elitist, he realizes that he's actually been talking to Amy, Cloud 9's floor supervisor the entire time. There's no doubt that he didn't make the best first impression on his future wife.

While they appear to be simple, Jonah's final lines are extremely significant. Jonah asks Amy if both kids are asleep, revealing that the two of them had a child of their own. The names "Parker" and "Carter" are hanging on the wall for further confirmation of the new addition to their family. Jonah puts his arm around Amy and smiles at her before they leave the room to let their kids sleep. Jonah fell in love with Amy at first sight, so being happily married to her in his last scene is Jonah's perfect ending.

Amy Sosa

America Ferrara as Amy Sosa

"That's actually a cubic zirconia knockoff. It's called PlastiClear." - "They're asleep. [...] Yeah."

Amy's first line gives viewers plenty of insight into the store and the kind of people who shop there. The customer interludes are funny, yet they also showcase just how inconsiderate people can be to retail workers. Amy sells an engagement ring to a customer, who unbeknownst to her is the father of Cheyenne's baby, and he gives her a hard time about the ridiculously low price. Amy has a strong work ethic, but it's difficult to stay professional with some of the shoppers she's forced to deal with.

In the pilot, Amy its to being unsatisfied with her life. She tells Jonah that every day feels like the one before, which makes it hard to find the "moments of beauty" he keeps preaching about. Jonah covers the ceiling of the store with the glow-stars Amy had been stocking to make that day feel different than yesterday. Ever since Jonah's first shift, Amy started to notice a change and her life was never the same again. Tucking in their kids under the glow stars they put on the ceiling was a beautiful testament to Amy's newfound happiness and her love story with Jonah.
