Gameplay in prepare for in Surviving the Aftermath.

Depending on the difficulty level players choose, catastrophes will occur every few days in Surviving the Aftermath. It can quickly become overwhelming to keep a colony alive with disasters like a Pandemic, Heat Waves, or Nuclear Fallout constantly harming colonists. There are a few ways players can prepare for each type of catastrophe in order to increase the chances of survival.

A Nuclear Fallout in Surviving the Aftermath will give players less than a full day's warning before it begins. Later in the game, players will be able to build a radar that warns them earlier, but in the early game, it can be hard to prepare for this catastrophe. Players will need to have a decent stockpile of medicine, iodine pills, and food in order to make it through the catastrophe with as few casualties as possible. Having more than one medical facility with the maximum number of workers will also help colonists survive a Nuclear Fallout.

Build Infrastructure for Nuclear Fallout in Surviving the Aftermath

Surviving the Aftermath Prepare for Nuclear Fallout Colony with Radiation

In Surviving the Aftermath, the last upgrade branch in the Safety research tab is Medicine Production, so players will not be able to make their own medical kits or iodine pills to prepare for Nuclear Fallout until the later stages of the game. Instead, players need to find medicines by sending Specialists to the World Map. Each search area will be identified by a symbol, so medical kits and iodine pills should be prioritized in the beginning. Players should also send Scavenger Specialists to get the resources quicker.

While Specialists are scouring the World Map for materials, players can focus on building medical facilities in their colony. Players should also unlock a few of the early Safety research tasks, including upgraded medical facilities, employee nurses, and a faster healing rate. Having all three of these early upgrades will make it much easier for players to survive a Nuclear Fallout. Unlocking them will require Science Points, which are also collected by Specialists.

Like in Surviving Mars, keeping the colony alive in Surviving the Aftermath will require players to endure harsh environmental disasters, including Nuclear Fallouts. To prepare for these events, players can stock up on medical kits and iodine pills to treat radiation sickness. They can also make sure their colony has the right infrastructure, including upgraded, well-staffed medical facilities, to keep colonists from mutating or dying. Nuclear Fallouts are just one of a variety of catastrophes in Surviving the Aftermath.
