CBS released a sneak peek of Survivor 42, where Jeff Probst reveals what fans should expect from the season and how it compares to Survivor season 41. This season will have 18 castaways compete on a Fijian island for 26 days to see who can outwit, outplay, and outlast their competitors. Check out everything host Jeff Probst divulged in the sneak peek.

Survivor has always been just as much about how well the castaways perform in challenges, as it is about how they survive in extreme living conditions and are forced to build alliances to stay in the game. Many fans were disappointed with Survivor 41, and were hoping that changes would be made before the next season. Some of the complaints were that the winner of the season was not shown often enough, leading to her winning coming as a shock for many fans. Most fans agree that adding all of the twists and advantages have actually hurt the show because it puts less focus on the cast, which has always been one of the most compelling parts of Survivor.

Jeff Probst broke the fourth wall, as he has done since Survivor 41, to let fans in on the changes being made to this season. He said that this season was filmed back to back from Survivor 41, so this cast has never seen any of the new advantages and will be experiencing it all for the first time. Like last season, Survivor 42, will have almost no food given to the cast and penalties, like losing their flint, if they do not win a challenge. The last similarity between the two comes from the twists where of each tribe have to say a weird phrase before the challenge starts to activate an immunity idol.

Jeff said that this season will be continuing the evolution of the new era of Survivor, but that there will be some differences between the seasons as well. One of the most divisive parts of the show comes from the many twists added last season, and Survivor 42 will scrap some of the ones from last season and change up others to keep the show interesting. Jeff did not give any more details about the newest advantages, but fans are hoping the rules are less complicated than Survivor 41.

The last part of the Survivor 42 sneak peek from SurvivorOnCBS gave fans another look at some of the castaways from the season, and many fans think the ones featured are likely to go far in the game. Jonathan Young is a world record holder for most pull ups with 100 pounds on his back and he seems ready to dominate challenges, while Drea Wheeler is also set to show off her competitive side. The sneak peek also included Omar Zaheer, who is prepared for the adventure of a lifetime, Lydia Meredith, who has never even gone camping, and Survivor superfan Daniel Strunk. Fans will have to wait until Survivor returns to see what the next step in a new era for the show looks like.
