The popular Netflix K-drama Sweet Home has been renewed for a third season, and there are already exciting updates about the series' last outing. Debuting in 2020 and based on the eponymous Web Toon, Sweet Home follows troubled teen Cha Hyun-soo as he must work together with his neighbors in the Green Home apartment complex to survive against a never-ending onslaught of monsters that threaten their very humanity. Noted for its impressive visual effects and unique creature designs, Sweet Home also strikes a fine balance between its monster mayhem and a deeply intimate story about its characters.

The series was an instant smash hit on Netflix, and it even became the very first Korean series to break into the streamer's top 10. The first two seasons received high marks from critics, though some did criticize its convoluted narrative even amid a heap of praise for its outlandishness (via Rotten Tomatoes). The fate of the series was never really in any jeopardy, as Sweet Home was promptly renewed for two additional seasons after the overwhelming success of season 1. Though fans were forced to wait three years for season 2 to arrive, season 3 will be here much sooner.

An Epic & Monstrous Conclusion

Though it is impossible to say exactly what will happen in season 3, there are a few loose threads that will need to be addressed. First and foremost, the internal struggle within Cha Hyun-soo was not resolved in season 2, and it is unclear which aspect of his personality will win the war in the long run. Also, perhaps the most pressing issue is the reemergence of Lee Eun-hyuk at the end of season 2, and though he is clearly part monster, it isn't clear whether he will be a hero or villain in Sweet Home season 3.
