Leaker Claims To Find Data On Possible Switch 2 Pre-Orders In U.S.

This article has been updated to reflect leaker billbil-kun's follow-up social media posts making claims of possible pre-order start dates for the Nintendo Switch 2 in the United States.

According to a prolific leaker, Nintendo assesses the potential impact of tariffs on countries like China and Vietnam that are manufacturing the Switch 2.

Leaker billbil-kun, who has a reputable track record, has claimed that pre-orders in Canada are set to begin on April 23 (via VGC). There may also be an update regarding U.S. pre-orders, too, but the information is messy. On X, billbil-kun added that Switch 2 consoles may be available for pre-order in the U.S. either April 21 or April 30, depending on the retailer, though the leaker characterized this as "conflicting data." Accessories, like the Switch 2 Pro Controller, may be available for pre-order April 30.

If these dates prove to be true, U.S. pre-orders could begin before Canada's. Nintendo's past statement was that the pre-orders in Canada were delayed to coincide with the U.S. pre-orders, but Nintendo's pre-order strategy may have changed since then, and nothing has been confirmed.

🚨 RELEASE 🚨 From what I can see through some Canadian retailers, Nintendo Switch 2 console & bundle pre-orders should start from 📅 April 23rd, 2025 (valid in CA) ⚠️ Date subject to change. Can't confirm if it's the same for US I'll keep you updated if it changes [image or embed] — billbil-kun (@billbil-kun.bsky.social) April 15, 2025 at 11:32 AM

The Switch 2 Pre-Orders Date Remains Unclear

There Is A Lot of Misinformation Out There

Because of the nature of the Switch 2 reveal and Nintendo not announcing the price of the console or the controversial Switch 2 game prices during the Nintendo Direct, there is a lot of misinformation about the console, its games, and the pre-order dates. For now, the dates for pre-orders are unclear. The console release date is still set for June 5, so a pre-order date and time would seemingly have to be announced beforehand for consumers.

Getting Nintendo Switch 2 Games Is Reportedly Harder Than Buying The Console Itself

Availability is a concern with any new console release, but the Nintendo Switch 2 might be easier to find and purchase than the actual games.

The rumored April 23 date for Canada pre-orders includes both the Switch 2 and the bundle that comes with Mario Kart World. Pricing has not changed, as of right now. There is no current information if the rumored U.S. Switch 2 pre-order date will be just for the console or also the bundle with Mario Kart World.

With a potential leak indicating the start of pre-orders in Canada, and potentially even the U.S., this new information, if it proves to be true, will likely cause even more restlessness among Nintendo fans. The reception to the console's reveal and immediate aftermath was mixed at best, with a lot of people feeling the console and game prices are too high, even leading to a digital protest during a Nintendo Treehouse livestream. So, with the pre-order dates and final cost of the console pending more information, there seems to be a lot of worry in the air.

It remains to be seen if these new pre-order dates for the Nintendo Switch 2 in Canada and the U.S. are true, and if they are, there might be even more restlessness from Americans and Canadians. But until then, there's still more mystery and anxiety surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2 than fans would like.
