With rumors surrounding the second iteration of the Nintendo Switch swirling faster than ever, a new set of supposedly leaked images may finally give fans their first look at the console. Ever since Nintendo confirmed in early 2024 that the so-called Nintendo Switch 2 would be announced before the end of the financial year, the community has gone into overdrive trying to glean any kind of information on the device. Official information is still sparse, so one has to hope that the leaked details ends up being accurate.
Per VGC, the leaked images depict a console that looks fairly similar to the Nintendo Switch everyone knows and loves but it does feature some major upgrades. The screen measures 8-inches and the actual device sports two USB-C ports on both the top and bottom, making it much easier to charge in handheld mode. The Joy-Cons have also been upgraded to attach to the body with magnets rather than the sliding mechanism that's become an iconic part of the system's brand; Fans are recommended to take it all with a grain of salt until Nintendo provides an official update.
What Else Is Included In The Switch Leak?
Even More Insight Into The Console
It's worth noting that while the mock-ups and design documents have yet to be verified, VGC revealed that a source that's been briefed on Nintendo's strategy confirmed that the leak appears to be accurate. As for the technical specifications, many of the details line up with a shipping manifest leak that hit the internet in early 2024. The Switch 2 will supposedly use an LCD screen in an effort to keep costs down even though the original Switch gained an OLED version a few years after release.
The leak suggests the Nintendo Switch 2 will boast 12GB of RAM which, if accurate, will be a massive upgrade. The original console, which only has 4GB of RAM, has always struggled to run demanding games so having the extra memory is a huge improvement to one of the console's biggest problems. Another significant step up is the internal storage: The first Switch shipped with only 32GB but the Switch 2 will seemingly sport 256GB.

4 Games That Could Launch With the Nintendo Switch 2
From classic, iconic Nintendo characters to potential new titles, these are the games, we think, could make the Switch 2’s success inevitable.
Those desperate for confirmation on the facts will hopefully learn the truth in the coming months. The Nintendo Switch community speculates that the company may announce the console in September or October and release it in March 2025, allowing for Nintendo going a similar route with its new hardware.
