Synopsis
Argo is a historical thriller adapted from the memoir of CIA operative Tony Mendez. The film follows Mendez as he infiltrates Tehran, Iran, by pretending to be filming a sci-fi movie during the Iran hostage crisis at the beginning of the 1980s. Ben Affleck stars as Mendez as he infiltrates to save the six escaped embassy staff .

'Argo' Review

Affleck successfully uses history to tap into very real fears (both personal and political) about what may come tomorrow. As a director, he's three for three, by my count.

Argo was a fun film that told a great story of Hollywood helping the US military, but that last act where they tried to pretend it was a tense thriller like we didn't already know how the story ended was just too much. The story was already full of tense, thrilling moments, we didn't need to manufacture more.

While I don't think it should have won Best Picture, Argo deserved the praise it got overall. It is genuinely thrilling and gripping, and about an important overall story.
