  • The cast in Artemis Fowl really gives it their all, and you can't fault them for working with the material they've been given. The problem is the material. Disney's version of Artemis completely misses what makes the book series so great. Artemis is not just a really smart kid who gets in over his head. Artemis is supposed to be a young criminal mastermind who has backup plans for his backup plans. This adaptation misses that criminal element, and here's hoping another remake down the line is able to get it right.

Synopsis

Loosely based on the first book in the series by Eoin Colfer, Artemis Fowl tells the story of the titular character, a 12-year-old genius who, after the disappearance of his father, captures a fairy in order to receive her help for a rescue mission. The film stars Ferida Shaw in his movie debut, with a wider cast that includes Josh Gad, Judi Dench, and Colin Farrell.

Artemis Fowl Review: Disney's Botched Adaptation is No Criminal Mastermind
3/10

A jumbled mess of an adaptation, Artemis Fowl struggles to entertain on its own , much less as a Disney-fied re-imagining of its source material.
