This was not nearly as strong as the first film, but I thought they did a great job giving Boseman's death. The new and old characters work well together to create a strong ensemble, and it has a great score and costumes. Angela Bassett versus Jamie Lee Curtis was a tough race for Best ing Actress!

Ryan Coogler had an unenviable task here, not only having to create a sequel to one of the best superhero adaptations, but crafting a story in the wake of the loss of Chadwick Boseman, and I feel he really sticks the landing. Shuri's arc from isolating in grief to becoming a hero is handled so well, Namor is a fascinating villain, and I appreciate how the themes of the prior film are carried over here. I feel the weakest link here is Dominic Thorne's Ironheart, though I suspect more time with the character will change those feelings.

This movie handled Chadwick Boseman's death so respectfully in my opinion. There was no dramatic reason as to why T'Challa ed away, just acknowledging the fact that he was and going on to honor his legacy. Most viewers of Wakanda Forever already knew the circumstances around the film, so it really just let Boseman's legacy shine. I think Letitia Wright stepped up as best as she could've and you could really feel Shuri's struggle to do the right thing vs. get her revenge on the world.

Seriously missing Boseman in this one, but Ryan Coogler pulled it off the best it could have been. Iron Heart feels like a studio addition. Namor is a really compelling villain. Hopefully the MCU gets to see more of him at some point in the future. A beautiful celebration of Tchalla.

Emotional with amazing music, Black panther 2 shows us how strong the MCU is when dealing with the loss of a beloved actor.

Black Panther 2 was a good movie but it was devastating to watch without Boseman since he is such an integral part of the Black Panther story. They still created a great movie in the best way they could, but it was undoubtedly just not the same unfortunately.

Given the strained conditions under which it was made, Wakanda Forever is surprisingly good. Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa is sorely missed, but Tenoch Huerta's Namor brings intensity and depth to the movie's antihero, finding meaning in the unavoidable sense that it's missing a protagonist. Sadly, the movie also makes it clear that something big has to change for the franchise to continue.
