The sixth installment in the Transformers movie franchise, Bumblebee acts as both a spin-off and prequel to the series. Set in 1987, Bumblebee follows Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld) after she discovers the injured Autobot scout, B-127. Nicknaming him Bumblebee, Charlie helps the iconic yellow Transformer to evade both the evil Decepticons and the efforts of Colonel Jack Burns (John Cena) to capture him.

The perfect come-back for the Transformers franchise. From incredibly faithful G1 designs (Including many that didn't make it to screen), to one of the best relationships between a bot and his human ally, the emotional arc is wonderful. John Cena is also a delight here in one of his earlier roles, but one that will lead to one of the best wrestler-turned-actor moves
Best live action Transformers movie by default thanks to the chemistry between Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld) and Bumblebee
Finally, a girl gets a robot. That's kind of it. It's the Transformers movie where you get to watch Hailee Stenfeld pretend there's a big CGI robot there instead of Shia LeBeouf.
A vast improvement narratively than Bay's saga but lacks most of the action sauce that those films had. There is fun hand to hand combat later in the movie, but it takes a while to get there. Not my favorite movie in the franchise, but they should have made a true sequel to this one instead of whatever they were going for with Rise of the Beasts.
