Ghostbusters: Afterlife was not a bad movie, but it also lacks some of the same charm and humor the original Ghostbusters movies possess. There are a lot of cool callbacks to the original films, though.

Other than Jurassic World, I think this is the closest a requel has gotten to being as good as the original. Enough said.

Ghostbusters Afterlife is a good film

I have complicated feelings towards this movie. I feel it veers too far away from the strengths of Ghostbusters and its cynical charm, where it's a supernatural but unglamorous career full of everymen as it treads the familiar tropes of most modern legacy sequels (Alongside some emotional but creatively dubious CGI). But at the same time, it is an enjoyable movie with a strong cast, good premise, and ties to the lore of the original that feel rewarding. If it spent less time glorifying the originals and treated them a little more mundanely, I feel I'd appreciate it more, but as it is, it's okay
