I had a really good time watching this movie in theaters. Still have an issue with these movies where I want better and more interesting human characters. I know many want less characters and more focus on the two big guys, but my favorite Godzilla movies have always been about the plight of the human characters. Still, this is an exciting movie that has some fun action sequences. Wish everything felt heavier and had a better sense of scale though.

Like many stories in the Monsterverse, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire's narrative is nonexistent at worst and nonsensical at best; there's very little logic put into its story, and that's further emphasized by how close it was released to the poignant Godzilla Minus One. However, because of how earnest the film is about its lack of depth, it becomes a surprisingly entertaining action film that's great for anyone looking for pure, over-the-top monster action, and at the end of the day, that's a perfectly serviceable thing for a film to strive for.
