  • It is mostly setup for Part 2 but this film stands out as a compelling character study of its three main leads. The chase through the woods is thrilling and the drama surrounding Harry, Ron, and Hermione is the best part of the movie. Good stuff.

  • The downside to breaking Deathly Hallows into two parts is that the majority of the action actually occurs in the second part. Much of this movie has to set up the conclusion of the story. Despite that, where the movie works is with its heavy sense of melancholy as Harry, Ron, and Hermione are truly on their own for the first time. This is the movie where it feels like they aren't kids trying to do the right thing anymore, but adults out to change the world.
