Not my favorite Michael Mann film but features some of the best actors ever at the top of their game. Worth the price of ission alone. Mann captures male loneliness better than basically anyone I have ever seen. Seeing what drives the two leads is breathtaking and realizing neither one of them will ever stop is unreal.

Michael Mann is one of the best directors in Hollywood. Some of his other films like Collateral might have the edge over this classic, but it is more than just a thrilling action movie. Mann fleshes out the major players, especially DeNiro and Pacino. Like Cruise in Collateral, we understand what drives these characters, and their philosophies. Only a razor-thin line exists between them by the end. This is a must-see for fans of the action/crime drama genres, because it offers more than thrilling action. Like Collateral, it’s also a thinking man’s movie that leaves you with plenty to chew on afterwards. It gets better with each viewing.
