  • Very much the anti-holiday movie, Krampus immediately lets viewer know that these people are doomed. For a period where a lot of the media focuses on goodwill and all, the cast are for the most part damned by being representative of the worst the holiday can bring. In that way, seeing some of the worse behaviours punished in creative horror kills can be cathartic. Ultimately, the movie is enjoyable beyond simply being a novelty of a seasonal hhorror

  • Krampus is nothing spectacular, but it is a pretty good campy Christmas horror movie. The characters aren't very fleshed out, but the main focus is on the villain, Krampus, and the festive jumpscares, so in-depth character development isn't absolutely necessary here. There isn't much competition in the Christmas horror genre, so Krampus stands apart as one of the better additions.

  • Krampus is kind of conventional horror film fare for the bulk of it but THAT ENDING. The Christmas joy turned sinister trope is done well here, and the family disarray is believable. Worth watching just for the twist.

5/10

Krampus isn't as clever or scary as Christmas horror/comedies past, but provides enough kitschy fun for those craving a darker holiday yarn.
