Laika knows how to pull the heartstrings (pun intended, I apologize for nothing), and Kubo is one of their best films yet. I don't want to give the whole metaphor away, but I think you'll figure it out pretty quickly just by watching the movie. Gorgeous stop motion animation, a top-tier voice cast, and a perfect story make for a satisfying time. Just grab the tissues.

This movie is cinematic masterpiece that's animated beautifully and tells a heartwrenching story. I am knocking half a score off the rating, though, because the cast comprises of predominantly white people despite being set in Feudal Japan.

The animation is really incredible, and the story is really interesting and unique. I thought the characters were all really compelling and intriguing.

There's definitely some questionable casting here, as majority white voice actors was not the best move. However, Kubo has a great animation style and moving story, with an added bonus of a great cover of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" in the closing credits.
