Synopsis
From director Steven Spielberg, Lincoln stars Daniel Day-Lewis as the titular 16th president of the United States. The film portrays the final months of Lincoln's life and focuses on his attempts to get the 13th amendment ed by the US Congress in order to abolish slavery in the aftermath of the Civil War. Sally Field, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Tommy Lee Jones also star.

A portrait of one of America's most storied presidents, during a tumultuous time in his career, Lincoln sometimes errs on the side of hagiography. However, it is from director Steven Spielberg, who has tilted sappy in his old age and career.

Daniel Day Lewis is a tour de force, and Lincoln is no exception. A gripping political drama, and arguably one of Spielberg's best before his career fell a little flat.
