New Amsterdam is a medical drama series based on Eric Manheimer's book Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital. Ryan Eggold stars as Dr. Max Goodwin, the newly appointed medical director of the New Amsterdam Medical Center. Over the course of five seasons, he works tirelessly to bring change to the neglected facility so that it might better care for its patients.
