The New Mutants is incredibly middle of the road. It is potentially one of the better Superhero horror movies out there, but considering the lack of competition, that isn't something to be lauded. However, there are some cool visuals, fun heroes, and a unique aspect of the Fox X-Men universe.

I appreciate that Fox actually tried to do different things with their X-Men franchise, and this film is no exception. Enjoyed all the characters here and there genuinely unsettling moments throughout. This film was dumped rather harshly, but is better than half the MCU, so the joke is on Disney.

Superhero hero horror is a rare breed, and this was a valiant attempt at it. It's a shame Josh Boone's take on the teenage Marvel team went through so many delays and changes, ending in a slightly messier product than the audience might have wanted. Each of the characters having very real fears that are being exploited to control them, however, is a stroke of genius, and the casting of Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik is one that many fans will mourn since they're unlikely to see it again.
