  • I don't typically watch heist movies. I usually do just fine sitting down to enjoy one because I'm very much into a well-crafted plot, sometimes getting too show-offish with flashy tricks that can be felt to supersede the story, but the spectacle and cleverness of the illusions in Now You See Me 2 do it for me. Every trick is set and directed with such great complexity that I cannot but marvel. The cast, featuring Jesse Eisenberg and Mark Ruffalo, is also super charismatic and full of energy in their roles, so it's no wonder you find yourself being carried out. Definitely, it is interesting to learn exactly how the characters use their tricks to be one step ahead. However, there is nothing deeply profound about it beyond the obvious themes of trust and deception.

Now You See Me 2 Review
5/10

Despite some entertaining moments, Now You See Me 2 is largely an exercise of style over substance when it's all said and done.
