  • Oshi no ko was beautiful, although I cried reading the last book knowing the series was over it still made me happy over the years. So I'm glad that I found it 4 years ago and how it got adapted into an anime

  • The ending was sad but but I expected it to be like that from miles ago.

  • Oshi no Ko tries to be an ambitious blend of idol culture critique, mystery, and reincarnation drama, but its execution often feels disted and overly dramatic. The initial premise is undeniably intriguing—reincarnation into the life of an idol's child—but the series quickly becomes bogged down by its tonal inconsistency.

The pacing is a major issue, with the first episode feeling more like a full-length movie that tries to cram in too much information too quickly. While this prologue sets the stage, it leaves little room for meaningful character development or emotional connection with the characters.

The show also struggles with its attempts to critique the entertainment industry. While it offers some valid insights, these moments are often overshadowed by melodramatic twists that feel more like shock value than meaningful storytelling. The blend of supernatural elements with the gritty realism of showbiz sometimes comes across as jarring rather than compelling.

Visually, the series has its moments, but the art and animation can be inconsistent, which detracts from its overall polish. Additionally, the characters often fall into stereotypical archetypes, making it difficult to truly invest in their journeys.

Overall, Oshi no Ko is a series with an interesting concept but falters in its execution. It’s a show that tries to do too much, leaving behind a messy and unbalanced narrative that fails to reach its full potential.

Synopsis

Oshi no Ko is an animated supernatural mystery series that follows a gynecologist named Gorou, a big fan of an idol whom he is caring for as she prepares to deliver her children. After an obsessive fan of the idols murders Gorou, he is reincarnated as her newborn son - but along with him, a terminal patient he knew is reborn as his twin sister. Years later, after yet another seemingly related murder, Gorou (now known as Aqua) decides to enter the idol world and find the culprit.
