Synopsis
Starring Daniel Day-Lewis in his final film role before his retirement from acting, Phantom Thread follows excentric London dressmaker Reynolds Woodcock who becomes infatuated with a young waitress named Alma and begins using her as his muse. Reynolds and Alma's turbulent relationship is the main focus of the film. Vicky Krieps stars alongside Day-Lewis as Alma, and Lesley Manville stars as Cyril, Reynolds's sister.

A Paul Thomas Anderson flick about terrible people who are very good at things. Normally that turns me off, but PTA is ALSO very good at things (and hopefully not a terrible person), so everything kept me hooked, from the performances to the costume design and set dressing to the cinematography. Reynolds and Alma are the ultimate toxic couple, and you can't help but watch their twisted relationship.

Daniel Day Lewis is great (if not a bit over the top) in this role, but I can't help but think that PTA has gone too far in the stylization this time around. The music timed to the rhythm of Lewis chewing mushrooms is a standout not great moment.
