Star Wars' sequel trilogy was always a divisive part of the franchise, and The Rise of Skywalker did nothing to help with that thanks to a lackluster script filled with nonsensical retcons, lazy plot twists, and all-around boring dialogue. The Rise of Skywalker has a reputation for being the worst Star Wars film, and overall, it's hard to argue with that idea.

As a massive star wars fan, I never imagined I could be watching a new live action star wars movie in theater and just feeling like I wanted the movie to be over. How this script got greenlit I will never know. It's the laziest, most fan-fiction seeming writing I've ever seen. It's clear they did not know how to react to the divisive reception of the Last Jedi, and though that movie isn't my favourite, you can't start trying to rewrite the trilogy in the last installment. 'Somehow Palpatine Returned and also he was actually behind everything' is a hilariously bad and lazy move of desperation to avoid just sticking with Kylo Ren as the main bad. This remains the only Star Wars movie I have only seen once, and once was too much.

As essentially serviceable movie that shows how badly ignoring what came before can hurt you. Rise of Skywalker is ultimately devoid of soul, failing the artistic challenge of bringing a new trilogy together and - worse - stumbling in its attempt to bring new inspiring visuals to a franchise that depends on them.

Definitely the worst movie in all of Star Wars. Could have been so much better coming off The Last Jedi but wanted to placate to the toxic side of the community a bit more than it should have. Wish their was a satisfying ending to the new trilogy. Because of this, it feels pointless to sometimes watch the other two.

TRoS is the weakest Star Wars film for me, it tries to please everyone and does nothing. Few character's arcs feel concentrated and clear save for Poe and Ben's (Though even they have their issues), and I feel there were the makings of a good movie. Bringing back Palpatine as the overall Skywalker Saga villain is a good idea, as is his plans with his Xyston Star Destroyers is fine too, but while the ingredients are good, the way they are thrown together is very messy, and makes for a rough watch.

If only this trilogy could be removed from canon.

A solid conclusion to the saga, this film fails more in execution than in concept. Pulling from various Legends storylines to construct its plot, the movie feels just a bit shallower than its two predecessors, but scores a win with Ben Solo and Rey Skywalker's characterizations. If only Ben had lived!

I felt that this was a shallow follow-up that abandoned Kylo Ren's character, and relied on a silly romance device. The Last Jedi and The Force Awakens were both promising Star Wars entries, but this really disappointed.

NOTHING GOOD ABOUT IT. And this return devalues what Anakin did in my favourite Return of Jedi. This also "strips of" him being the Chosen One (for me he has always been the Chosen One). I hate films which devalue in a BAD way significant milestones established by previous films. Rise of Skywalker was the final nail to the coffin for sequel trilogy. Star Wars definitely end for me on The Return of Jedi. If only sequel trilogy could vanish...

While this is definitely my least favorite of the Skywalker Saga, there are redeemable aspects to this film. Kelly Marie Tran was robbed of a compelling storyline for Rose and I will never forgive JJ Abrams for that. Thankfully the door was left open for Rey to return and help make this film go from merely okay, to something worthy of rewatching. "Somehow Palpatine Returned" will be one of the best lines forever.

The Rise of Skywalker was a good movie but I'd consider it the weakest of the new trilogy. I'm sorry to disappoint Reylo shippers, but the romance felt forced into this movie and rushed in my opinion. I like romance in action movies but it could have been executed better.
