  • Pixar's Brave wishes it had this much to say about women's fraught relationships with their mothers. There's some stunning animation to be had in the CGI here, especially, considering the subject, with the hair, and the characters feel fleshed out instead of copied out of an old story book.

  • Fun Disney comedy with forgettable music and an underdeveloped villain, Tangled was a good warm-up for the heights of Frozen and Moana, but it's far from a must-see.

  • This is a lot of people's favorite Disney princess movie and while it isn't mine, it is a very solid film. I appreciated that the toxic relationship between Rapunzel and Mother Gothel played just as big as a role as the romantic relationship between Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder. Even though it's a pretty palatable film, I do get put off sometimes because Rapunzel feels like the quirky, 'not like other girls' type of character.

  • I really love Tangled. It's a sweet movie with a spunky lead character, a charming love interest, and a terrifying villain. The dynamic between Mother Gothel and Rapunzel felt particularly sinister. Unfortunately, Rapunzel was a little more naive as a character than I usually like, which is why I took off half a star on an otherwise amazing movie.

  • This is a really wonderful movie, but it just never clicked for me the way it did for most. I appreciate all the characters and Mother Gothel and Rapunzel in particular are really well written, especially the dynamic between them. However, I just couldn't be more invested than just ively enjoying this. It didn't keep me emotionally invested the way Disney has a habit of doing. It was just fun. Which isn't wrong, it just wasn't for me.
