  • Terminator: Genisys is absolutely thrilling to me because it explores the terrifying potential of technology turning against humans. Unlike most sci-fi films where the danger is distant, the idea of an AI like Skynet becoming self-aware and deciding to wipe out humanity feels chillingly plausible. Also, the movie's depiction of a broken timeline and the relentless pursuit by Terminators adds to the tension. It's a must-watch for people who are captivated by the risks of advanced technology.

  • !! Includes a Major Spoiler !!

The concept is quite brilliant really, the characters are pretty darn cool too. The action sequences are usually exciting and interesting. But: (Spolier here) making John the ultimate villain who cannot be truly defeated felt like a punch in the gut. Also, when it's 1 terminator vs another or a human etc, the stakes are grounded and meaningful. As soon as the villain is all powerful, can shapeshift etc etc, that grounding is lost.

  • Jai Courteney has never been in a good film, and if you're making a movie and find out he's been cast, you might want to quit while you're ahead. No one has the knack for Terminator movies outside James Cameron, and these futuristic time travel flicks belong in the past.

Synopsis

Terminator: Genysis reboots James Cameron's Terminator franchise by rewriting the events of the original movie. This time, Emilia Clarke's Sarah Connor already knows why Jai Courtney's Kyle Reese has been sent back in time, and an older T-800, once again played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, helps them in their quest to prevent an AI uprising.
