The Following centers on Kevin Bacon's Ryan Hardy, who hunts down a manipulative serial killer named Joe Carroll (James Purefoy) that has amassed a cult following willing to do anything he tells them to. The series was well received but was eventually canceled by Fox in 2015 after three seasons.
