Rumor has it a special, Zelda-themed edition of the Nintendo Switch's OLED model will be released alongside Great Breath Of The Wild Locations That Tears Of The Kingdom Must Include
Tears Of The Kingdom Special Edition Switch Leaks Design Updates The Older Console
The leaked images as posted by @HMKilla on Twitter clearly show two gold Joy-Cons, plus a white TV dock. Each Joy-Con bears a line drawing in that special Tears of the Kingdom/BOTW style, depicting what appears to be a winged, egg-shaped entity. Images of the TV dock are less clear, but it seems to be decorated with gold continuations of the ripple and circuitry patterns, plus a circular emblem with a Triforce in the middle. With its new design, this leaked Tears of the Kingdom special edition Switch could be the perfect evolution of Zelda-themed console.
The Tears Of The Kingdom Special Edition Switch Appears To Reuse An Older Design
Despite standouts like the chunky, green Link edition of the 2DS, the winged Triforce design returned and continued to evolve in later Zelda special edition consoles. The New 3DS XL got its own special Zelda edition, and with it, a new gold color and a winged, clawed, intricately patterned Triforce. Although the leaked images aren't totally clear, the same exact Triforce graphic seems to be emblazoned on the leaked Switch TV dock, with a little wear-and-tear to reflect Tears of the Kingdom's post-apocalyptic Zelda timeline setting.
What that means for the validity of the leaks isn't clear. Nintendo has reused elements of special edition console designs before, although never so prominently. The simpler winged Triforce that appeared on the Zelda 25th anniversary 3DS is also present (if much smaller) on the special edition Wind Waker Wii U GamePad, and again in a slightly modified form on the blue Joy-Cons that was released alongside Skyward Sword HD for the Switch. However, with a clear image of the New 3DS XL design, it'd be all too easy for someone to edit the Triforce design on top of a white Switch dock and claim it's a Nintendo leak.
With the Breath of the Wild sequel slated for release in May, but precious little information known about the game, players have plenty of room to speculate on The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom OLED Switch could have many players reaching for their wallets.
