Though many audiences suspected that season 3 of Season 4 can develop plenty of Ted Lasso characters in fun and exciting ways, bringing back the warm and comforting storytelling of the earlier seasons.
These episodes are the perfect opportunity to give Ted Lasso a true final ending, especially since so many long-time fans were underwhelmed by the decisions made in the previous finale. Although it will take some work to undo the character arcs that were seemingly resolved in season 3, there’s clearly plenty of room left for these stories to continue in unexpected ways.
Ted's Move To Kansas Brings A New Change Of Scenery
The Move Can Bring His Marriage Back Into The Spotlight
One of the major emotional beats at the end of Ted Lasso’s third season was Ted’s departure from the UK, deciding to return to his family in Kansas. This was a huge decision that many audiences suspected would mean the end of Ted Lasso in general, but given the confirmation that season 4 is officially happening, there’s clearly more to this story that the show’s writers want to tell.

I'll Only Watch Ted Lasso Season 4 If Hannah Waddingham Returns As Rebecca
Ted Lasso fans rejoice — season 4 is officially on the way. I can't wait for its return, but Hannah Waddingham needs to come back as Rebecca Welton.
Perhaps Ted Lasso will split its time between the US and the UK in future episodes, spending more time with Ted’s family and allowing him to reconcile the marriage that’s been falling apart.
Dr. Sharon Is Finally Back At Richmond
The Character Should Come Back To The Main Cast
Dr. Sharon was one of the best characters in Ted Lasso, but she was almost entirely absent from the show’s third season. Her comforting presence was severely missed in the most recent episodes, and it wasn’t until the season 3 finale that she finally made her return to Richmond. With Ted on the other side of the ocean, it’s crucial that certain fan-favorite characters are still hanging around in Richmond to keep audiences’ interests piqued - and Sharon can certainly do that.
Rebecca’s New Relationship Sets Up A Maternal Role For Her Character
The Richmond Manager Could Have A More Personal Storyline
Hannah Waddingham’s character Rebecca ended up with arguably the happiest ending in Ted Lasso’s third season, selling huge amounts of her AFC Richmond shares in order to spend more time on herself and her new relationship. She reunited with Matteo van der Grijn’s character in the season finale, connecting instantly with his daughter and teasing a much more maternal role in her future. This would be a hugely exciting plot thread for Ted Lasso season 4’s story, wrapping up Rebecca’s story in a neat and satisfying way.
Nate's Underwhelming Villain Arc Has Finally Resolved
Nate Is Back Where He Belongs
One of the less exciting parts of Ted Lasso’s recent episodes was the decision to turn Nate into an antagonist; while his scenes were always handled effectively, it ruined much of the camaraderie that was so endearing between him and the Richmond squad. Thankfully, he and Ted managed to overcome their differences by the end of season 3 and Nate’s role in the show will likely be more positive and friendly in the future. He’s one of Ted Lasso’s funniest characters, and that humor was often wasted when the show needed him to be spiteful and villainous.
AFC Richmond Has Qualified For The European Championships
The Team Is Taking A Major Step Forwards
Another major development from the most recent Ted Lasso finale is the news that AFC Richmond qualified for the European Championships. While Ted probably won’t be around to see his squad advance to such a prestigious league, this will almost certainly be a major plot point for Roy, Nate, and Coach Beard to deal with. For the entire show, Ted’s character arc has revolved around turning this team into the best version of itself, and season 3 finally saw it become just that.
Season 3 Teased A Richmond Women's Team
The Show Could Introduce A Whole New Roster Of Players
One of the few pieces of information that’s already been confirmed about Ted Lasso’s fourth season is that it will focus (at least partly) on a female soccer team. This was teased at the end of the show’s previous season, with Keeley proposing the idea to Rebecca during their discussions about the club’s future. While it’s unclear whether AFC Richmond is the women’s team in question (or whether it’s another female club in Kansas with Ted), this could certainly be an interesting subplot for Ted Lasso to explore.
