Teen Mom OG star Amber Portwood recently announced she might be pregnant with her third child - her second with boyfriend Andrew Glennon. The news of Amber's possible pregnancy was a shock to her family and friends, and also to viewers, who weren't very thrilled.
Fans first met Portwood on MTV's 16 and Pregnant in 2009. The show followed the lives of several teenagers during their pregnancies and early months of being a mother. Portwood shares her first child, Leah, with ex-boyfriend Gary Shirley; and while the two were engaged on the series, they ultimately split, with Shirley getting custody of Leah. Portwood went on to have a relationship with a former radio DJ, Matt Baier, during which time they were briefly engaged. When they went on WeTV's Marriage Boot Camp to fix their relationship, that's where Portwood met Glennon. They began dating in 2017 after Baier and Portwood split, and they welcomed their first child, James, in May 2018.
On the latest episode of Teen Mom OG, during a first birthday party for their son James (seen below, via her personal Instagram), Portwood and Glennon announced that they thought they might be pregnant, stating her period was five days late. Everyone in the room, including Portwood's ex, Shirley, was stunned. Then, the group began to discuss the possibility of adding another baby to the family, which is when Portwood's mom struck back with, "So when do you guys plan on getting married?" She and Glennon have hinted at being secretly married in the past, but have no plans to get married any time soon. Later on in the episode, however, Portwood discovered that she isn't pregnant after all.
If the two do decide to have another baby, Portwood seems confident in Glennon's parenting skills to help raise a family. She recently gushed to Us about Glennon as a parent, saying “He is such an amazing man and loves taking care of James." Portwood, who also struggles with bipolar and borderline personality disorders, added that Glennon also takes care of her, saying, "He was afraid of postpartum depression, so he’s always checking up on me. He just wants to make sure I’m loved. It’s almost perfect.”
As disappointing as it might be to learn that she wasn't pregnant after all, it might have a been a blessing in disguise for the time being. Considering what Portwood has been going through in of her mental health, a longer wait could benefit the whole family - as well as any potential newcomers somewhere down the road. For now, fans may not get to see a new baby any time soon, but anything is possible; and fans will have to watch the rest of the season to see if another baby (or possible spinoff) is in store for these two.
